Yeah. These are hollow spoked wheels I bought 3 years ago or so. I had them painted 993 Turbo metallic black.

I think I will do 19s on the 89. Also black. Maybe flat black next time.

Usually. I have more work to do after this test fit though, as I found WAY too many places you can see that the car is quite dirty in the wheel wells. Looks like someone has to find a steam cleaner with a car lift.

Thanks BC. I did all the prep and final sanding, and then paid a local shop to do the color and clear.

And then I dropped my color matched fiberglass wing on the concrete..... ;(

I thought the cat did it...?

Yep. The cat did it. He pushed it off, but I have been told by my wife that it was actually my fault for not having it more safely put away. So now I just say "I dropped it" or "it fell" - which makes Eddie, the cat, more safe when I look at the wing all cracked up.

Good memory Brian.

Bearings, if in good shape, are virtually silent, especially when being constantly lubricated like in your case.

99.99% of the famous Vortech whine comes from the straight cut gears. Even the loudest Ford PS pump doesn’t come close to a Vortech Sc at idle. There is nothing louder that straight cut gears at high rpm. I’m afraid you’ll just have to live it. This is not a bad thing; just don’t expect to sneak up on someone thinking they won’t know that your car is not stock!

There are other SCs out there that are near silent and my Paxton is one of them.

I am planning on an SQ if I do the second car the same way. I have not heard a V-1 at all. I purchased it from ebay for a good price and am rebuilding it with new seals and bearings. I also painted it azure blue/purple.

Wow 305's! My car must have shrunk... 285/40 on 10.5" HRE's in back, and they touch inside and out..?
255 on 9.5" fronts, and they touch the lip if I go over a large bump, or get way crossed up. Also touch the lower control arm at full lock... maybe the wheels are 1/2 in too wide? They do 'just' touch, and haven't caused any problems, but no way will a 305 go my car... dangit!

SVP - I have alot of room where the fenders at the rear are rolled. I am still concerned over the fronts though. I would like more then 225 and some here have said I can go more. But the car is not painted. I am concerned about the rolling process with paint.

Brendan, I guess it depends on the offset but I thought S4 rear 16x8 wheels would fit the front of any 928 with 245s. Therefore, you should be able to fit at least 245s. Add to that that you probably rolled the lip and 255s or 265s shouldn't be a problem (with the proper wheels). blau928 said his 285s on 10s barely stick out of unflared fronts, and his offest probably isn't ideal for front use.

You have room in front for at least 265's, maybe 285's, if you don't go too wide on the wheel. My 9.5's are 17" dia, and would clear fine inside if they were 18's. At worst, you may have to put stops on the steering rack to keep from hitting the control arm at full lock. My car is an 85, so clearance should be about the same as your 78.

My fronts are 8" and 52mm offset I think. No fender rolling.
