So...do we think this one is legit or another ebay scam? Im maybe 2 hours away from this car, wonder what the reserve is.

Anyone seen this 1980 Euro that somehow has very factory looking US model rear side markers?

That's definitely a euro. ZZZ serial #, cis injection, german instruments, front side lights behind the wheel . Its a shame it doesn't have a title. Looks great.

but how did it end up with the rear side markers? They look like the factory us ones and most euros i see in the US have those squareish add on ones front and rear........but I am by no means an expert. I wonder why he thinks it can never have a title

Maybe the car was never "federalized." If so in essense its here illegally and any attempt to title it would probably cause some severe headaches.

Being a 79 and not an 80 and thus not a Euro S, all the goodies that make a Euro so desirable wouldn't be there. No big valve heads, no euro cams, no high flow intake and bigger throttle body. So it basically becomes a 79 with euro fenders and German instruments that has a title problem. If it weren't for the European instruments I would be inclined to believe it was a US model that had a wreck and received euro front fenders. But the euro cluster could have been swapped in as well. (or am I wrong here?)

FBII where did you see the ZZZ vin? the auction list it as 9289102356.

Rixter, It seems a lot of the euro's get titled as the year they get brought into the US. My 81 is titled as an 82 for example. In this case maybe he is subtly trying to incorrectly infer its a Euro S?

Erich,
I stand corrected. Wrong car, no ZZZ.

even if it's an 80 DOESN'T mean it's an S
and yes Fred, many do get titled by the year they were imported, getting this corrected is a PITA

Ok, thanks, here I thought I was just missing something that was right in front of me. I don't need any further support for the I am losing my mind theory

Were it an 80 and an S (in Europe in the 16v years you could get the S and a standard non S 928 which was basically the US model) I would have been interested. 80 and Euro is what had caught my eye. Perhaps he is hopeful someone will make the same error and not catch it.
