Nigel, I think:

"They see us on stage with tight trousers we've got, you know, armadillos in our trousers, I mean it's really quite frightening..."

Yeah, I really love the look on 911 driver's faces as I put then squarely in the rear view mirror.

Ya, Try having a 914 with a 928 motor... Double basturd duty there eh? If Porsche ever dares to take a real stand and retire that old bar of soap, those so called purists will have a coronary! Just consider the source. No taste, no vision.

That's what 918-S means. He's done it, and it's a badass car!

Post can't we all get along?

hey 928er don't pay much attention to that obviously snob remark
but just remember as was said these rides are timless sometime o go to the door just to look at mine and say yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh baby!!!!!!
but really let's not bash eachothers cars i owm a 82 928 and a 99 carrera
both blk on blk 5sp and i see them totally different not to be compared
because the 911 is autobahn gone route 66 and the 928 is purely meat for an american and meant to be an american ride

You should of told the guy he was a pompus *** and drove away. That would have been funny IMHO.

As for the eight cyl 914 I posted this quite some time ago. It was in a book that my kid checked out of the school library.

Paul,
I had a polar silver 96 993 and loved it. IMHO still the best of the 911's. Wish I'd kept it alongside the 928.

Yaeh. The 928 16v engine into a 914 has been done and it rocks.

Maybe someone can post some picks again. It even looked like it belonged there.

As for you Dr. Mark. I think you are getting all worked up over nothing. I don't mean any offense by this statement. But if you wanted your car to be adored by the masses then you picked the wrong car to drive. You should have picked up a Ferrari or a Lambo. If you get sticker shock from those then there are lots of other options to choose. The Lotus comes to mind, although you wouldn't have the same creature comforts your GTS offers. It makes me chuckle when a 928 owner is surprised that someone regards their beloved 928 as something other than awesome. The 928 failed as a product because it wasn't accepted. That still holds true today. Those of us that like 928 ' s do so because we can see attributes within the car that others overlook. If you enjoy your car, why worry if some random stranger doesn't get it? Next time, blow his doors off when you get the chance and maybe you will help the poor soul see the error of his ways. Like I said at the beginning of the post. Please don't take these words the wrong way. I say this with all due respect.
