That the car was being daily driven is a BIG PLUS ! the vin # does not indicate S or not only the engine number on the block. Again I wish you all the best with this very exciting project! When you do need parts we are just up the road a bit.

Perhaps you should tell him to take the car and get a PPI at his expense before you decide you want to purchase it.

The early S engine number is 28/11 5 spd or 28/12 for automatic.The number is stamped near the front of the block on a raised flat next to the passenger cylinder head just behind and above the fan mount. It is under the big wire harness and probably oily. An 09 or 10 is the standard 4.5 Euro.

It's amazing how 928 cuts the years.
