Default Lightweight muffler pics

Guys these mufflers weigh just over 1 kgs each and the modded GT mufflers weigh in at 4.5 kgs for the pair, that is a big difference over stock.

The GT mufflers

Schweet! What's the effect on ground clearance? They look like they would tuck in pretty close.

No clearance problems, they fit after the X pipe, 3" ID 4.5" OD so it is the same depth or height as the S2 muffler and they are also slightly smaller diameter than the cats on a S4.

I believe those are "glass packs" but with a three inch perforated core they should be much louder than stock. Why not show an end view as well ?

Nice pieces, but those hardly qualify as a muffler. They really don't muffle anything. It's a "race" muffler; much like the DOT slicks...they are designed for race applications. I can assure you’re the car will be LOUD!

I will post a pic of the internals later, yes they are burns racing mufflers, as to how loud, I don't know yet. This is my logic, X pipe first, this is well documented to quiten exhausts, not by a lot though. Then come these mufflers, remember the 928s Euro had just a straight through muffler just after the engine pipes, then it went to a small resonator, this is where I will have my GT mufflers, and then straight out.

The other bit of info that may change the sound is the variable pressure exhaust valve. This means under most operating conditions that the exhaust will only exit out of one pipe. This provides for more backpressure and better silencing.

There is provision for another burns style muffler at the rear where the original one was if it is needed.

Hi Heinrich no it is well documented it quitens the exhaust down by 1 to 3 db. The first article I could find on the topic

Burns Stainless also concurred on between 1 to 3 DB.

Greg I imagine an X is slightly quieter than straight pipes but certainly not a cat

Okay, I'm all confused here... Isn't the stock exhaust setup flow from engine>cats>resonators>muffler>exit? Greg, where are you planning on putting the Burns units?

As I understand their function, the resonators don't really muffle the exhaust as much as they change the tone; am I right about that?

At 120db they all sound the same! At that level couple of bd will not really make much of a difference.
