Yeah I thought about it briefly, but my 2.20 is without LSD for the moment and not the right year for him either.
My 2.72 is with US layshaft for 1st-4th so I actually have a different gear ratio than a standard 2.72.

Hi all
If it helps my car is a S2 (1986) 16 valve - 310 BHP....it was the last year of the 16 valve engine in the UK..the following year the S4 was released in UK and all S4s were 32 valve...(ummm what happened to the S3 ??? he says puzzled ..lol .. ?? )
The high compression was because in 1986 over here in UK there was no such thing as UNLEADED petrol at all...only 2 star LEADED fuel (91 octane if i remember rightly....used in vw beetles etc) at the time we had 2 star (91)....3 star (95)...4 star (98/99) and 5 star (100/102)
Hope this helps,
All the best Brett

I had an '86 Euro 5L 5spd until recently. (Hit while parked) I have since sold it. My avatar is the car of which I speak. There were only about 74 built. And yes it was an option in Europe that gave a tax deduction for the eng. b/c it had cats. One of it's other "benefits" was that it automatically came with the S4 "options" that we all covet from an '86.5.

There is a red 86 euro 5.0l in Johnstown, Pa. It is owned by a twit of a Doctor. Car had about 250k km on it when the T-belt broke. He owned it from new, and being Canadian brought it with him into the country. He was asking $6k for it, broken belt-rust and all.

As Rory stated there were about 74 built. When I contacted Jim B. about Rory's car he said the car had been rescued by a local. Pistons are KS made 9.3:1 instead of 10:1. IIRC, the valve notches in the pistons are very deep, so they may not be interference. The valves are different. I'm assuming the cams and maybe lifters are also different. To get the HP and torque up to the levels of the US S3 I think it has more radical cams and are probably what the Holbert car had.
