I was hoping the same thing, but there's nothing to overhaul. That car is fine!

And how is the female officer doing? Who gives a sh*t about the thug. He got less than what he deserved. I have some close friends who are in law enforcement (drug enforcement and S.W.A.T.) and I worry about them all the time. But they really enjoy their job and are very careful. I'm like you, law enforcement missed an opportunity that time.

I do, not sure about anyone else. I want to make it as difficult as I can for someone to steal it and just locking the doors is a major deterent for joyriders. Now, the professional thief, you have to work a little bit harder, like install fuel pump override toggle switches (or something like that). Hide it in a not so immediately easy to find location. It may be a week or 2 before I go in the garage, so every little bit helps.

Nee...Didn't you see what happened last time when Cincy police fatally shot a wanted suspect after he ran down an alley and resisted arrest. We all had to be in the house by 8:00 PM....It was a Riot! Trust me, that officer made the call for the leg shot, and not the shot to kill. Cincy officers are very careful with how they handle these things now. I'm all for keeping guns in the home for those who want to, but on the flip side I see no reason for automatic weapons in society.

This kid was 18 and he will survive. Problem is guys like us have to pay to keep him in clothing and food for the duration. We have had a lot of shootings here in the last few months. Not good.

And so are ours. One of my good friends (and his partner) on the drug team, shot and killed someone last year. Career criminal attempting to evade arrest, using a 3,500 lbs car to escape and run over several officers (and bystanders). They tried to wound him, but had no choice but to kill him to protect themselves. Yeah, just wound him then we'll have the same life-long criminal walking the streets to continue his antics in a few months or so. And it will continue until he kills someone (once or maybe twice) and is caught. Then the public will wonder how or why he was ever allowed to walk the streets.

If we lived in a perfect society, we wouldn't need firearms. But we don't. How many criminals would think of pulling a gun on you if they knew you had one and might return the favor? Or bystanders watching the incident? The bad guys get guns illegally, no matter what, they don't care, they're living a life of crime so their thinking is what are the chances of them getting caught with an illegal weapon? And then most times it's just a slap on the wrist if they are. It's not hard to figure that one out. Don't legislate firearms out of the hands of the honest citizens, we need them (if we so choose) to keep the balance.

He shot a law enforcement officer in the face? That's attempted murder, and for that the criminal should have lost his life. I'm sure this guy already had a record and this wasn't his first offense. Why else would he try to shoot a law enforcement officer. And at 18! If he's willing to shoot a police officer, what makes you belive he'll think twice about a normal citizen? Sorry, I feel no mercy for him. Better him than yours or my loved ones because he survived due to a shot in the leg. Now, he'll probably sue the city because he was shot and not killed, cruel and unusual punishment, or use of deadly force? I'm tired of seeing our tax dollars going to support career criminals that will not re-habilitate after jail terms.

I posted a security warning on the 924/931/944/951/968 side about the dangers of having your plate info available. If someone who knows how to link, please put it up over here.

Usually I hide the ? ? bolt. Oh it also has a hidden 45 day battery backup GPS system in it, 128bit AIS encryption, 10ms rf random signal burst as to not alert a more savvy thief. And it's own tracking web page.

I've been known to hide a rim and tire, also the coil wires.

My F250 has 3 in it, testing purposes mainly, and someone tried to steal it. They failed but I almost wanted them to. That's almost as bad as the thief's just south of here tried to hold up a Cop at a hotel where the hotel sign said "Welcome Sharp shooters" Needless to say they didn't get away or have another birthday.

I also like Smith wesson and Cujo methods too.

Yeah...
A GPS tracking system would be a wise idea if you have a lot of $$$ invested in your car...

I think that it is important to protect your personal information to a resonable extent but as with Rolex's 951 it is more important that the details be out in the open at this point.

A good safety system in place, house alarm or a lowjack/GPS system and his car may have already been recovered or not taken at all.

The man's web address is his first and last name. How you gonna stop a thief from looking that up?

If someone wants your car...they are going to have it. Whatever makes you sleep better at night is up to you.

Someone stealing cars for a joyride is stealing RSXs and ITR Integras. Someone stealing a highly modified 951 wanted that highly modified 951 and they would have stolen it at some point. If not from the house then wherever he parked it next.

Hell, nowdays people just tow the thing off.

CNN has been running the patrol car video recording of the incident this morning. The bullet hit the officers bill on her hat, broke her glasses and grazed her face. She faired well, so very lucky and very fortunate for her.

But, I still stand by what I said previously in the thread. Too bad the suspect wasn't shot and killed.

Last year while driving to work in the wife's volvo, I was hit by a scumbag that wouldn't give me any information on himself and then took off. I followed him while talking to the police on the cell phone. The police said to just let him go and to take it up with MY insurance company. Wasn't much damage, but that's not the point

I had his licence plate number, and it took me about 20 minutes the next day to have his name, address and phone number. It was so simple. And let's just say I took care of things in my own way.

REMEMBER - personal information is very simple to get. Don't make it any easier by revealing your plate number on the internet.
