What does "Metalic Paint to Sample ($2664)" stands for?

Paint is custom made for this vehicle...it matches the "selected" color, from a book of sample hues, the customer chooses from, when selecting this option upon purchasing a "built to order" vehicle, such as this one....In other words...the match to sample...is not a standard production model paint selection. The car is specifically ordered to customer build criteria, and the paint is a custom hue, matched to a "buyer selected sample".

Ok so, Porsche charged $2664 to give the option to the buyer, then another $12K to paint?

Sick. Just completely SICK. I'm sure every one of us began listing the things we could sell to own this vehicle. It's not happening though. I should have tried harder in school. I should have tried harder with my career. Really beautiful.

Buy a new Cayman which will perform better in every which way or get this GTS which 10 years from now will be worth 2x as much as the Cayman? Seeing an example this good makes me want to save every 928 out there.

Take away the special paint and all you have is a low mile 95 auto with not many options.

If I had a spare $63,500. I'd buy it. Oh well, really nice car. I noticed it has South Carolina plates, is it anywhere near the Greenville/Spartanburg area?

I should have gone to the dark side instead, I should sold drugs, become an international drug dealer, or become a successful pimp.

Pearl white is very difficult to paint to standards Porsche expects from itself. That alone justifies few $$$$ on price. They probably had to pull it of production line and spend considerably more time than for 'normal' paint to sample car, let alone standard color. There should be mid eighties S in Finland with same paintjob from factory. Haven't seen it in about past decade though.

Very nice Chuck...it's good to be in the loop huh?

We have a SOCAL928 member who has a beautiful 1994 moldingless Pearl white GTS with 35K on the clock who lives nearby in Hollywood. He is the 2nd owner and had purchased the car from Heather Thomas (blond babe from the TV show, "The Fall Guy" with Lee Majors) He rarely drives it and the car is in showroom condition. He told me that Miss Thomas had special ordered this car and drove it infrequently...as he does as well. He seems to travel the world a lot and doesn't have time to drive it. I had hoped he would be at Sharktoberfest, but he said he just couldn't make it this year due to work.

...and if anyone was wondering, YES, he knows to ask me first when he is going to sell the car.

....did you hear that??

That was the sound of the price of my GTS going up...CHA-CHING!

Chuck, as much as I'd like to see your friend get the 63large, I'm highly doubting it. Best of luck to your friend and his situation.
