Would you not reuse the bolts that are already on the 993TT rotor?

I have 94 TT rotors on my car with the Big Reds. One piece, bolted right on.

brendan, i have big red callipers on my 86. the discs i am using are from one version of the 964? turbo 3.8 litre i think, the car before the 993. they are cross drilled but not two piece, i like the idea of rotor hats that we can hang different rotors on. i would consider a set of these at my next brake disc upgrade if they were available, perhaps its a part you could arrange a run of and carl or dr could on sell the surplus? aluminium is the material of choice but you want to ensure it is strong enough, do you have a running 928 on which to conduct road tests or will we become your beta version testers??!

A set of used rotors came with the brakes, but the hats were unbolted from the rotors with no hardware included.

The devek hats seem to have indentations comming up from each of the areas that have the hole for the rotor bolts. Those half-circles would indent into the inner diameter of the hat itself.

That makes the machining very much more complex, and i am not sure why its done.

The oem hat on the 993TT rotor does not have these half-circles, and it looks exactly like my design,

But here's the rub. The hat I have to make a copy from (they are used) are taller by quite a bit then the OEM hat on the 993TT.

So how can that 993TT rotor be used on the 928 if the 928 hats I have are a different height?

Brendan if it works (see above posts) I'd say it's good enough for me .. again, DR sells 993TT rotors with no mods (look at the part numbers) ...

I understand H. Why would there be taller and shorter hats for the same car?

The answer is: There aren't. You buy the 993tt part and you get only one hat. If an aftermarket company made expensive taller ones, I don't know why ..... but the reason to use 993 rotors and not 928 rotors is to clear the suspension arm.

Maybe Devek's adapters are different than 928 Specialists adapters placing the calipers in a different location. Are the Devek hats for just bolting GTS brakes onto an S4 suspension with no adapter vs 928 Specialists kits which place the caliper in a different place to use more commonly available rotors?
