I am very very tempted to try and make this car run with my megasquirt and use the wideband autotune function. Very tempting. Just to get used to tuning and more tuning.

Two things that come to mind regarding extraneous O2 sensor-based A/F monitors:
1. How accurate is the average O2 sensor. I've read that simply changing the sensor can make a noteable difference, even when both sensors are brand new; apparently production line variance is excessive with these. [sorry, I cannot reference where I read this].
2. Digital volt meters/ multitesters are notorious for showing incorrect readings. My dad was an engineer at Detroit Edison, and we always had expensive Fluke multitesters around the house; he told me that they used these around the plant only for basic/initial testing- they had huge machines that they pulled around the plant on little wheels that they used to pinpoint problems, and these were tested every morning.
I have an A/F monitor in my glove box- I use it to monitor trends, but I don't consider it accurate. Right now, I idle at around 14:1, and under full throttle it reads "rich" or below 10:1. Since it has shown the same readings for a while and the car runs fairly well, I don't mess with anything.
Good luck!
