Has there been anyone recently...had or have... the issue of the, "seat belt that won't retract" syndrome ?? I know...a search for solutions from prior posts...would be the appropriate course for this type problem...but, I thought I'd give anyone out there in Rennlist land, that may be concurrently experiencing this trouble...to co-miserate (??)...if you know what I'm saying . Hell...its the holidays. Cops are everywhere...and my seatbelt won't retract after being used...It looks "ghetto as hell"...to leave it extended, and mechanically feeding it back into the "retractor-rewinder"... is kind of embarassing as well...So...any body gonna tell me how this can be "easily fixed" ??? Or is a" Refer to the WSM "...in the offing ? I'm all ears fellows.

Open the bleed screws and pump either motor oil or gear oil into the tensioner until .... Oh, seat belt !
Is the belt hanging up at the plastic guide or at the ratchet mechanism? Over time, a film of crud often accumulates on the guides sufficient to prevent retraction. If cleaning does not solve that, and there are no twists in the belt, then open the panels to access the ratchet.
Simplest thing to do then is air blow it clean and spray with something like WD-40.

You know...I can't tell, ( or haven't noticed)...where, its hanging up...I am up front...and its in the back. But, it "used to wind up a bit"...then stop. Now..., it doesn't even pull back part way into the retractor reel. It just "sits there"... and I have to "feed" it back into the retractor reel...Very annoying.

Sounds like time for a new belt. I think I have replaced 2 or 3 belts on my 2 cars for this reason. I think the are $75 or something from 928 intl.

Really ??? I am happy to hear that Karl,... and, just how hard is it... to "replace" this PITA...with a used, or remanufactured unit from 928 Intl. ??? Sounds like a practical solution, if do-able in a day...(once the replacement part is in hand)...., is this part listed in the catalog, ?? under the "Restoration Parts" area ?? Or, is this something I need to call them and request ?? I have done business with 928 Intl. numerous times, and if this is a viable solution to this problem, then I won't hesitate to call and buy one. (Provided I can afford one). I do not however...remember seeing replacement "seatbelts"...in their catalog, as either a New...or, Used...part. Great suggestion though.
