Carl, Does ARP also make main studs (12mm) for the 32 valve?
I won't know until Tuesday or Wednesday.

John,
Very true. But I thought Porsche had recinded that directive. (No?) Anways, doesn't everyone Loc-tite those nuts? I do. That should seal it.

Nope. No publication forthcoming.
What is coming back to me is the smooth tones of Mr. Jim suggesting that those special nuts weren't worth the extra money if I sealed them. What's his P/N again?
A check in the PET shows the "928" series nuts being used throughout the series for the 12M studs. Ordinary nuts are in the "N" series. Lemme change that: not recinded, just not necessary.
I've got to wonder if this wasn't an attempt to keep a bit more oil and pressure going to the crank. Having coated nuts would be easier for manufacturing than gooping them one-at-a-time.

Time sert is a great insert, much better then a heli-coil assuming you have the beef to do it.
Getting the studs out of the block (especially head studs) is not easy. It took two very strong men to remove the head stufs out of the Goldmember's block. The trick is heating the block locally where the studs are threaded in. Even then it can be brutal to get them out. 20+ years in one spot=stubborn!
There is a guy in Florida selling larger studs for the 928/944 and this requires machine work to the block.
