DR's Crossover installed
I finished my 86.5 in about two hours, taking my time of course. The fit and finish of the product was flawless just as i knew it would be. Just as i finished and shut car off DR calls and i am still giddy about how awesome it sounds. After dinner I went to fill the tank and add some of that Stabill stuff for storage. Since the snow is pretty much cleared off of the roads for now at least, i decided to take a very short run up the highway. All i can say is WOW!
The assometer says the power is smooth and comes alot lower in the revs than with my H pipe.

I took DR's advice and stopped at an auto parts store to get the band clamps you see here in case my crossover was one that was shipped with the wrong clamps. Sure enough i had 4 of the smaller clamps instead of 2 small and 2 larger. I like the look of these stainless clamps i found though so i will keep them. They were hard to find, it was the 5 place i stopped on the way home from work and i was about to give up.

after sliding the crossover assembly onto the factory catback exhaust i put one of the included allenhead capscrews in each exhaust manifold flange to loosely hold the crossover up while I adjusted the fitment of the crossover to straight tubes and straight tubes to catback. I decided to place the allenhead cap screw facing down through the merge collector and the locking nut on the bottom because i figured it would be easier to tighten this way. It may look better with the allenhead cap screw on the bottom, i don't know.

A picture of the straight modular section where it slides into the crossover. i slid the both the clamp on the crossover end of the straight tube and the clamp on the catback end of the straight tube to the center of the tube to check both junctions for gaps. I also made sure the tube was pushed all the way past/covering the relief cuts in the crossover section.

This is a picture of the rear end of the straight modular section where it's inside diameter joins with the factory catback exhaust outside diameter. DR mentions on his website that there maybe a gap at this point that is unsealable by clamping force alone, i did find this to be true for my car.

Ben,
Your teasing the heck out of me.. I gotta go to bed sometime tonight and want to see the "full monty" on your 928 before I do :-)
Oh, I would suggest rotating your clamps so the bolts/nuts are on the "outboard" sides instead of the bottom for better ground clearance.

Not to be nit-picky -- that looks gorgeous! But I hope you turned the clamps up before final tightening, so they won't catch on anything...
BTW it's generally considered good practice to put screws in through the top as you mention in your last post, so that if it vibrates loose you lose only the nut, not the bolt too. Even if it's not going to loosen up, it's easier to work on later.

Hi Dave,
>Beat me by a nose, DR...
I been waiting for Ben to finish posting before I said something.. but it is getting past my bedtime :-)
Oh, I understand about the nut/bolt orientation, but trust me, those self locking nuts I provided aren't gonna vibrate off no matter which way you turn them.

here i have the straight tube slid all the way to the front end of the car into the inside diameter of the crossover. With the modular straight section slid forward i am wrapping the outside diameter of the factory catback with the recommended adhesive backed muffler tape to take up the gap. i used a section of tape 2" wide and 24" long and it worked fine.
