No, i didn't turn the clamps but i probably will now that you mention it. That's gonna make 'em a bitch to tighten though, the bolt head end is not held captive so i would have to get a wrench up next to the heat shield

I figured as much -- but IMHO it's generally easier to work on exhaust flanges when the bolts are put in from the top.

Hi Ben,

>the bolt head end is not held captive so i would have to get a wrench up next to the heat shield

It is actually easier than you would think, hold the "top wrench" parallel to the exhaust and tighten from the lower nut/bolt.

My x-pipe w/cats arrived Monday evening, however; I have 4 of the large clamps. I called 928 Spec and Jeannie said 2 small clamps would be in the mail. I sprayed all the existing ehxaust nuts with PB blaster this morning, and again this evening. Spent the rest of the day finishing up my Christmas shopping.

Hi Mel,

No need to call, I have already generated the invoice, you will have your correct clamps for the weekend.

Don,
You should have yours tomorrow along with the ProVent.

My apologizes again for the first 15 guys with mixed up clamps. We were so excited and I was pushing everyone so hard to get these out when they came in that the fact there are 2 different sized clamps did not get emphasized to the packers. ....Ok, OK, I confess, in my excitement I forgot to tell them, it was all my fault

David Roberts AKA Santa Claus

I can sense all of the Chritmas excitement with all of this crossover joy in the air.

In the 928 forum, I believe it would be very PC to wish everyone a merry X-mas!

Peace!

Class act to fall on your sword for your troops......No surprise. I got 4 large clampe and already spoke to Jeannie this morning.....my system goes in this weekend if the clampe show up by Friday am. Even if they don't, there will be pictures by monday, sans two large clamps.......Man, that install looks nice....I notice no cats.......I have to install them as they ARE the only mufflers I have on my car. I bet the Bwaaaaaaa gods are pleased.

Continuing.... For the muffler tape to take up the gap between the modular straight pipe i used a length of tape 2"x 24" as mentioned to make the junction fit snug before clamping. Now returning to the crossover end of the modular straight section, i again adjusted the pipes to where they sufficiently covered the relief cuts and then tightened those two clamps. DR, correct me if i am wrong but i think the design intent was to allow the straight modular section enough fore and aft movement in the crossover end to allow for easy change between straight tubes/cats? If that was the intent, it works wonderfully.

Yes... no cats here, and honestly it does not make much more racket than the H-pipe i had on it. At least the neighbors didn't complain about my euphoric revving. You guys with the smaller resonators may be different.

COOL, Ben is AWAKE!!!

Seriously Ben I forgot to tell you that I am so happy you like the Modular Crossover, hearing comments like yours and also hearing the giddiness in your voice makes all the aggravation of the last year worth it!!

Also thanks for your thorough pics and description of the install, I may need to "barter" with you on some of those as my digital camera crapped out a few weeks ago and is in for repair.

Thanks again,

I used the righthand Oxygen sensor port and put the nice allen key plug in the lefthand. The righthand is closer to where the sensor comes from the firewall, so that made sense to me. The Oxygen sensor port being in a different location necessitated rerouting the wires above the heat shield directly above the sensor in this picture
