Track car project update

Of course if you did the side aero panels , then you would need something like this to balance out the rear... it never ends :-)

"what you got in that racer???
how did you do those front flares? looks like they could hit the tires under compression. have you checked travel. also, the rears look good too. interesting flare you dont see that often on a 928. same thing, will the upward travel hit the inside?"
MK.....engine is stock 4.5 This started out as a DE car so I wouldn't beat on my street car and it just got out of hand. The plan is to super charge it...the weight is down to 2,670 so that should make it a great all around fun car to drive.
Fender flares are formed aluminum and they just rivet on to the the cut fender. The rivets are intentionally left exposed. It is difficult to tell in the picture but yes there is "enough" clearance under compression and steering. The splitter is the street worry for me....

you need to get rid of those solid strut braces on the splitter, as the air cant roll to the side along the width of the splitter. thats why all the pro cars have cables there. you effectively loose the effectivenss of the middle 3rd of the splitter. the air that doesn go in the engine (which is most of it) will now be forced to go under the car, defeating the purpose of the splitter. Just a quick observation.
otherwise, the car looks awesome! i remember my 4.5 liter stripped down track car. it was a blast
2700lbs and about 210 rear wheel hp is still a ton of fun.
certainly, take the rear wing and raise it up as i did, and then get a 10 degree inclination to it for some downforce to match the new front downforce of the splitter. if that splitter works, it could make the car loose on the high speed turns, without some more rear wing downforce. I got 80lbs of downforce by raising the wing 3 " in the rear and a 10 degree angle. Not the 200lbs that Andersons car would have, but also you and i dont have the 550hp to push the drag of that large of a wing.

MK...thanks for the input. I didn't realize that was the reason for cables or round struts. I did notice your wing mod.....probably something I would do.
Chuck, not sure on the offsets but they bolted right on. I can tell you they wouldn't fit if I didn't have the flares. Next time I pull them off I'll take some measurements.
Stan....I'm workin' the mychron research here :>) I know your waiting for me to do the grunt work before you hook yours up
So...no votes for the graphics eh??

>Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiincidentally ..... the new Corvette has those
Yes, and IIRC some of the new Ferraris, Vipers etc.
> Agreed side skirts are needed too. But butt fugly.
They can be done "un-butt fugly" and could be a cool place for side exhaust so you can shoot flames at anyone that gets too close...
