So I'm on my way to the DE 185 miles away and realize the driver's seat is all the way back because we've been working on the AC. Push the button and----NADA, nuttin', zilch! The memory light isn't even lit. No power to the driver's seat.
Time for manual override 'cause I can't drive from the back seat. Look for the socket in which to insert said manual override gizmo and-----NADA, nuttin', zilch. The $#%*$ SOCKET is missing!! Vision of weekend being flushed down the toilet.
Pull the clips off the center connector and use my power drill on the shafts and voila, the seat moves to a useable position.
I'd considered moving the socket from the passenger's seat to the driver's seat but it appears to be captured in a cage. Anyone BTDT?
Woulda saved myself a lot of grief if I hadn't figured it out. (See post about timing belt warning light).

I presume you've checked your fuses. Can't remember exactly which one.
If I move my seat all the way back but keep holding the button for a second after the seat reaches its stop, the fuse blows. Then I got no seat movement at all.

Presuming your fuse box is located the same place mine is...
You gotta pull back the carpet on the passenger side floor. You will find a small wooden (yes, wooden) panel under the carpet in the footwell, just about where a passenger's feet would be.
The fuse box is behind this panel. The wooden panel doesn't pivot out, it is secured in place by some little bent metal clasps. You have to slightly lift the panel up and over the clasps, then it can be completely removed. You'll see the entire fuse and relay panel behind it.
The fuse diagram and description is posted on the back side of the wooden panel.
Edit: Just remembered. To pull the passenger side carpet back, you also must unscrew the little round plastic fastener that holds the carpeted cover over the car's computer brain area - I think. Anyway, it's that little black plastic fastener located right where a passenger's right foot would rest.

Assuming that you've now topped up power, oil and water to the seat - it's probably 100% again; however, if you're looking for the 5mm allan key socket, did anything resemble this . Drifter's top left pic shows it, and if missing, that would be a special GT weight saving delete option # 4437.

There's no relay, just a fuse.

Hi Ernest, I would remove the mirror control and memory from the door see if your getting power to these switches, if so then you may have to remove the seat and take out the board under the seat, and look for broken solder joints, also look for obvious things like the small wire for the different motors under the seat coming off, under the seat there are a few relays for all of the different functions, they dont seem to fail rather the solder on the circut board will stop making contact. The other possibility are the seat switches themselves.
My 88 had an intermittant seat problem, I thought it was a broken wire in the seat harness clamp area but it turned out later to be a few bad solder joints , Dave Lomas our resident Elex EXpert at Motorsport went ahead and resoldered all of the contacts in the board and it works great now, a few other things to look for are the mirrors working if not they run thru the board as well, Thanks Dave, You the Man!............
