I've gotten 18,000 miles from my rear Michelin PS2 tires and now it's time for new ones. I've got the factory wheels and was wondering how much bigger I can go for the rear tires. Presently, the tires are 255-40-17. I'd like to go 275 or so. Any suggestions.

Bill............I've have Michelin PS2s on my car with 235/40X17 F and 275/35X17 R with no issues. Rubber is mounted on Turbo Twist 17" rims.

Malcolm, thanks for the info. I've got 245/40 x 17 up front with no clearance problems at all. Looks like I can got a bit bigger in the rear than my stock 255/40x17 on stock 9" rims.
Matt, got the MM job mostly done. Just have to torque a couple of bolts, check a few more pan bolts, replace oil filter and fill with Mobil 1, then fire it up. It was a dirty job, but not terrible. Probably took 10 hours total over 5 days or so. Really needed a helper with wiggling the crossmember and MM's out while the lower control arms were pulled out a bit.

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?

Bill,
Non at all, speedo (analog & digital) is perfectly accurate to my GPS readout up to 150mph. Not that I ever drive that fast you understand.
PSD works extremely well now I have an X pipe.
