Default bumper cover removal

I have made an attempt to remove the rear bumper cover, but all the bolts I've tried so far, break.

Can they be replaced, or are they somehow molded into the plastic?

The bolts (studs)are part of a metal strip which is riveted to the lip of the cover ...easily replaced

I had this happen as well. The repair was to drill the studs out from the back and put bolts in. I used slightly larger SAE parts (so shoot me!) and tapped the hole so they screwed in and held firmly. Might work similarly with 1mm larger bolts. (3mm to 4mm?)

I'm replacing the rubber/plastic strip between the covers and the body.

And I'm gonna replace the tank suspension and a few fuel lines, so I figured I could give myself some more room.

I'm also considering building my own front spoiler, s4-look adapted to OB, maybe...

MM;

I can test fit my S4 spoiler on my S today, I have removed the "S" spoiler anyway. I can try to take some pictures also if you are interested?

OK, I have test-fitted the S4-spoiler to my S, and it "fits". There are some bad pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21967367@N00/ I will try to take more pictures in daylight.

The curvature where it meets the fender is about the same, this I belive is a question of clamping it in place. The middle section of the bumper meets up Ok with the bottom of the bumper cover. The holes for the brake cooling intake fits surprisingly good! The bad news is the outer parts of the spoiler, there is a lip coming out from the spoiler that does not fit the contour of the OB cover at all. None of the mounting points match up. You could:

A: Reshape the outer parts so it resembles the contour of the middle section. This would give a clean look.

B: Reshape the outer parts to resemble a "splitter". It may look strange though, because the splitter will not be the lowest part of the spoiler.

I will take a closer look at option A myself, my car is very low, so an alternative for the "S" spoiler is worth considering.
