I'd love to have a set of cylinders myself! Money isn't the easiest to come by, but I'm really impressed with Todd's stuff. Maybe one day I can shake that guy's hand for what he's doing for the 928 community. He probably doesn't even realize he's a pioneer in this...

Wonder if he'd be the one to fit the sleeves too? I'd certainly prefer it, but I'd have to ship my block half-way across the country and back...
I would trust him for all the machining. You would know for sure it was done right.

Hey Joe!

I think there is another thread with your motor in it. I'll try to find it.

No, this motor was assembled to be a test bed for other projects based on this design. The engine was pulled in favor of a less radical setup to test the Autronic fuel injection system. Todd figured it would be better to use a stock engine (with 951 pistons) as the guinea pig to test and tune Autronic. So far so good since the stock (with 951 pistons) motor put down over 650rwhp @21psi. A larger blower was recently attached, he is slowly tuning the car to a maximum of 30psi. Once he feels he has everything sorted out with the engine management system he will go back to the motor this thread was started for.

He has other engines in the works (one went into use last year in a track car) with the steel sleeves.

I doubt Todd would venture into a project like this without fitting the sleeves himself.

As mentioned above, part way into the development & testing of this motor Todd decided to ditch LH / EZK for Autronic and did not want to use this motor for that testing.

I can say with 100% confidence the 21psi 5.0 running Autronic in Todd's car runs smoother then any stock 928, ever.
It's an amazing system that Todd and one of our local EFI / boosted guru's (Luke at Beyond Redline) have dialed in.
I'm not trying to say there is anything wrong with the stock setup, but it's kind of hard to compete with a system that allows you to dial in each cylinder for fuel and timing separately. To do this not only do you need a system with this kind of adjustability, you also need a way to log each cylinder. So Todd is also running eight wideband O2 sensors.

Hacker
Didn't you have some pics of the trick exhaust plumbing no Todds machine...where a sample port from the header routes to the O2 location a short distance away...since the 02 sensors can't take the heat right at the header.... it was SUPER trick.....

That is not the engine this thread was opened for.

The pictures you posted are of the 7 liter Todd is building for a customer. The engine in the OP is his personal 6.1 liter test motor.

I also see that you are using pistons in this engine which do not take advantage of the quench chamber the factory pistons and head have on them.
Care to shed any light as to what the reason for this is? Or if any changes to the detonation threshold have occoured.

Yes it's done, sitting on the eng, stand. I'm in the process of making a
new intake manifold.
The motor will be supercharged, Todd has already made the blower
kit for me, everything but the air to air intercooler.
The engine mgt, is a (Autronic SM4 version 1.09)
