I see no sense in building a 928 monster motor until you get the drivetrain up to par.

I have posted this before, there was a company down here that built a TT bored out S4 that was making around 900 hp. They broke everything in the drivetrain, multiple times.

Broke the driveshaft and couplers several times, fried multiple clutches, ended up blowing multiple transaxles and quit or more likely the owner quit.

Part of what they did that worked was ceramic twin custom clutch, chrome moly custom drive shaft and couplers, but never came up with a solution for the transaxle. Dont think they ever broke an axle.

IMO unless you are willing to do the above and built a custom box with 930 internals its largely a waste of $ IMO.

On the flip side you can build a 3L T mega motor for a 951, drop in a 924 turbo trans and put down some serious hp. Fact is it would probably eat up everything on the road. The 924 turbo trans has 930 internals and can handle around 800 hp from what I understand.

Why they never built a stout 928 trans I will never understand.

He isn't doing standing start stuff. I drove with him. Just top end highway pulls, or 30mph to whatever. Your douth florida boys ten to one were "grabbing the stick and pulling".

Who said everything behind the motor was stock?

His skills are not just limited to engines.

Last Sharktoberfest the most unusual engine here was the big block chevy in a street rod running 928 4 valve heads. The heads are actually quite good !

So, that ratty 924 Turbo at the Pick-n-Pull may actually have something of value on it? I've never seen a 928 at Pick-n-Pull, but always spot 924's and early 944's. Occasionally a 924 Turbo.

Rich.

Out of curiosity how much flow can you get from 928 4V heads?

Don't forget the 2" diameter hollow drive shaft.
