Not tryinig to highjack the thread and you are entitled to your opinion and beliefs but, I totally disagree with you on this one I think it has everything to do with why he wasn't seriously injured or worse.

It might have been a miracle if the other driver didn’t die. I thought in religion miracles are reserved for events with an end result that defies logic. As you can probably tell, I’m not a religious person.

Maybe it isn't a miracle at all, perhaps just a act of God. Nonetheless, this is not the time or place, I sorry that a man died and am thankful Gary was not hurt. A car can be replaced a life cannot.

Andrew................when you next talk with Gary please pass on our wishes from North of the border.

You may also want to mention to him the 2 GT's currently for sale from 'List members namely Seth and Jim's cars. He obviously requires a replacement a lot more than I.

Randy.........what kind of comment is that????????

I'm glad to hear Gary was spared from serious injury. Being hit by a truck is the last thing you want to experience in ANY car, and this one appears to have held up pretty well.

Most 928s can still be replaced - a human body cannot. I wonder, if the truck driver was either drunk or overly tired.

Hopefully Gary won't be too sore in the next few days.

Well said!!! The old saying of "don't drive faster than your angel can fly" rings true hear...except for the fact that he was parked!

THANK YOU ALL for your support, best wishes, and for being such great people. I didn't post this epistle on either Rennlist or the Forum, as I don't like to start "political, philosophical, or religious" debates on the internet. Seen too many get a bit ugly.
We are all entitled to beliefs or dis-beliefs. And, we won't really have any proof of which is right in our lifetime will we?
The four lane divided highway WAS NOT an interstate highway, just a US highway that is in extremely good condition and fairly well traveled between the mid-Atlantic Cities and the areas west and south of the Chesapeake. I WILL NOT use a cell phone while I'm driving. I'm not one of the VERY FEW people who can really talk and focus all my attention on driving at the same time. I see a lot of folks who think they can, but - I find their driving is frequently horrendous.
The trucker had just made a modest change in direction about 15 seconds earlier, going from the 2 lane road to the four lane divided highway. Therefore, I don't believe he could have fallen asleep. I DO think he took his attention away from his driving for 1-2 seconds (to get a CD, read a map, change the radio, dial his cell phone, etc.). But - like beliefs, I'll never know. I'm just sorry for him and his family that he didn't keep his attention on driving the truck.
Now - from Hill Street Blues: BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.

Best to all,

Gary Knox

He was driving a 928. He had to stop to wait for his angel to catch up.

Glad you're OK, Gary. As for the trucker, from one POV, it's unfortunate -- from another, DARWIN LIVES!

Those lapses in attention happen all the time.
In cars, trucks, etc...
You look down at the radio, or look at the cel phone, deal with the kids,
or look at something on the side of the road, and if you do that at the
wrong time, it is very easy to clip someone if you are not paying attention.
Very few people concentrate fully on the road at all times while driving.

At least it was the inattentive driver who paid the price, not the person
trying to be cautious and considerate of other drivers. It's kind of ironic
if you think about it. He pulled off the road, to avoid being an inattentive
driver, and his car ended up becoming a victim of one...

Also a reminder that trees often don't break.

Gary, you are blessed! No matter how or why, you are. Very happy to hear that you are physically OK. Take care of you mental state however...these things do not come upon us immediately.

In the future, and I think I speak for many, get off at the next exit and pull into a parking lot or something. This will only take about 5 minutes out of your life....it just may save your life and others.

Another one scored for the 928, in saving a life!

So many people would be focusing on misfortune, and Gary is focusing on his good fortune. That is indeed a blessing. And for any angels who might be reading this post - I'll take all the help I can get - and gladly give the credit to God.

Sorry I didn't get to meet you at Frenzy, Gary, but I remember your car. I hope you find a good substitute. There is a nice devec serviced silver S4 in my vicnity. A five speed with some nice goodies. Let me know if you want me to check it out.
