Has anyone tried using a different mirror to update the looks other than a Porsche and if so, can you post a picture with details? Just thinking of options

Some have mounted Miata mirrors as I recall . The trick is the proper angle on the base to the door which is what changes 911-944-928 just the base part.

These would be sweet:
Only 4 euros:

Some assemby required.

I'm the one who did the Miata mirrors:
The only problem is that the base of the Miata mirror, is not as big as
the 928 mirror. The Miata mirror covers the holes in the body, but it
does not cover up the whole area where the 928 mirror was mounted.
So you have to repaint, or blend, or something... It's not a plug and play
option. In my case, I did it while I was doing a repaint, so it was no
problem at all. And a LOT cheaper than the Aero mirrors, at $25 each...
They have power versions as well, which could probably be adapted.

I have been thinking of this for a while. I am making a CF one to give the 928 a true exotic mirror look. Just finished the mold. It is sleek and aerodynamic. Will show a pic when done.

I'm going to get some of these, eventually. Not CF though, just black. A base that would cover the factory holes would have to be made.

I always thought that the celica mirrors would look good. Here is a link to an aftermarket Celica mirror in "carbon fiber" that has an LED turn signal built into it. Carbon Fiber Mirror
