Ride Height, how low can I go in the front?

stick to factory height... my advice. As you get lowers, the car will not feel the same, it will be more bouncy and floaty, plus you run the risk of hitting the a/c compressor and other lower panels.. and that is expensive

When I got my 89, tops of the tires were even with the wheel arches. This is about as low as you can go. I had to raise mine. If you don't have a spoiler on the front, it is less of a problem.

There are many threads re ride height here. Where are you going to drive it? If you go below spec (regardless) the A/C compressor is the lowest point, it will be less than 6 inches above ground. If it contacts anything with force, the weak point is the ear which is part of the block. Alignment and ride are designed for spec, handling will suffer. YMMV. Your choice.

geeeezz.. we all know how low my car is 113mm front, and 135mm rear. the fenders are just below the tire up front and mid rubber in the back. Now, forget about "bump steer" its really not an issue, especially in a street car. also, forget about "bouncy" too. it makes no difference if your car is 115mm or 170mm up front. So, the only thing you should worry about is hitting stuff! mine is low, so i have to be careful. tires DONT wear funny. i run R compound and have got close 4000miles on a set, with NO real wear issues. cant tell you when ive even seen a cord in the past few years. wear issues, are due to poor and incorrect alignment. the 928 is INCREDIBLE with tire wear. Bump steer is a non issue because on a high g loading turn, the inside wheel is pretty unweighted anyway, and also underbreaking, you have progressively more toe out, but its also not an issue. I would know. Anderson and others have the bump steer corrected to a certain extent, and who knows if it really helps! if it does, it not going to matter much on a street or DE car!

almost forgot to give my recommendation for street cars. i think 155 and 165mm front to rear is a nice aggressive stance for the 928. just about a finger hight in front above the tire sits the fender, and the rear, just covering the rear tire.
IMHO!

You can go to the lower end on 155mm-160mm in front, but you must have the car realigned, and good shocks and springs.. I have to say that since I lowered my car and put in the 600#/400# Hypercoil/Koni setup, I am not as concerned about bottoming the front on dips etc.. It is now wayyyy too stiff to do that.. In addition, the front spoiler is off, and I have installed a very solid crashbar to protect the engine and its ancilliaries on the bottom. Next step is to put a front splitter over the crash bar... The Crash bar is made from steel, and looks like screen that covers a storm drain in the street.
The car is a bit interesting in the wet.. We have just had some rain here in Norcal, and I have been taking it easy as a result.. The Mercedes is smirking, knowing full well it will be driven more often as a result..

155mm all around with Konis and (old) Eibach front spring and former fronts now in the rear.
With the S spoiler I've got to be pretty careful around town.

Wow thanks for the response. When I rebuilt the front end I aimed for 155. Now 6 mo later the front settled to 148mm.
I'll shoot for 160mm frt and keep the 170 in the rear. I like the "rake" stance.
