I've ordered a rebuilt steering rack recently and will be installing soon. My track rods, track rod ends, and dust boots were replaced by the PO so I do not anticipate any obvious issues to that end. I know that the steering gear may have evolved/improved over the years, so should I anticipate having to change anything else? I.e. steering locks and spacers, etc.

"....replaced by the PO" .... that may be your anticipated problem?
BTW, Jager now sells a rebuilt rack with warranty..

Hi,
consider replacing the oil container/filter and checking/replacing all hoses too
Castrol's Transmax "Z" synthetic ATF works very well in the 928's power steering system and produces a better "feel"
