Default Can this seat be saved?

Looks like the sun took its toll on the driver's seat leather while the car sat on a dealers lot. I am planning on dyeing the front seats black if it will look good. Otherwise, I will replace the front seat hides.

Any sage advice?

If saved means look like new, then no.

If saved means not look crappy, then yes.

I'd give it a whirl with leatherique or similar. Then if you don't like it go for the new leather. Like $700 difference.

The two bolsters are ratty but have no holes. The bottom bolster looks easy to fix. A bit of stripping and filling, then recoating with some of the leatherique products should getting them looking good. Alternatively you can just have the worst part, the upper bolster, replaced by an auto upholstery shop. The rest of the seat needs a good cleaning and conditioning. You can give the whole seat a wipe with the dye. I have used it as a light wipe on decent seats to just freshen them up. Leatherique (or SEM) can match the color you have from Porsche color charts.

I don't know...does not look so bad to me. As Bill points out, there are no holes...mostly surface wear on the bolsters. The rest of the seat looks like it could use a good re-dye all the same.

I found this website when I started my rehab project. Take a llok at what this guy had to work with and how it turned out. All depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it.

Are those sport seats? if so, then you definitely want to have a go at reviving them. Even if they are not, if you have the time....

Mine look pretty similar and I sent some good high-res photos to the folks at Leatherique and they were really confident that they would look nearly new when I finshed their basic process. Clean, moisturize, dye and finish. I think there's a little bit of sanding in there to smooth out the surface.

Have a upholstry shop do the bolsters. Pick a color you like or match by Leatherique. Prep, prep, prep. Dye, sand or burnish and use Leatherique rejuvinator every six months.

Doc, I think I will exactly that. Could be a fun project. Thanks to all!
