Andrew, interesting you should say that as I thought about painting the inside to match my car. I am not sure how well it would look on all cars, but it will just take time until someone decides to try it. As I had said in Sterlings post, I wouldn't do the clear lenses on my wine red 82...it just wouldn't look right. So, I am not sure that clear lenses are for all cars...JMHO. Your color keying suggestion may make the difference though.

Bill, 2 foot should be enough to test with, but it won't happen on the ones I just installed. They are sealed now and the only way to open them up is to cut them, then sand. I expect I would lose too much material to make it work again. I will try it on the next set. Thanks.

I am not affiliated with this seller, but there are a set of clear turn signal and running lamp lenses on eBay right now.

The early version listed there is not as nice as the ones Nicole has, IMHO...

I like the idea of painting the housing body color (in my case, black). But I'm just curious: if you paint the edges black will the adhesive bond to it or just pull up the paint? If you don't paint the edges will the light look weird with a black center and white "trim?"

What do you think, Keith?

By the wauy, Keith - it looks amazing!! Especially on the white body.

Thanks! I think if you paint the inside and the edges, just hit the mounting surface (edges) with sand paper to get the paint off....or go to the trouble of masking them. Being that is the thickist part of the lens, you really wouldn't see any color except for the greyish color of the lens as it is too think to see through. I also think having the black O ring gasket around the lens causes a prism effect in so much the black color carries into the egde of the lens. Hope you understand what I just said. >8^F

Huh?

j/k

Loud and clear. I think I'll try an experiment when I get my set and post the results, but you bring up a good point about the prism effect.

Probably red, but maybe silver if I can find the silverstar bulbs. Otherwise I'm afraid it'll look too white.
