Thats why I got my son a Roush Mustang. The suspension, brake & wheel set up Roush does makes all the difference in how they handle. They advertise being able to pull almost 1G latererly.... but I dont know about that. Besides the beefed up springs, lower control arms, Bilstein shocks & sway bars they add, the 18" wheels have 265s in the front & 295s in the rear. His car definately sits low to the road even without the aero skirt it has all around.

On my son's 03 Stage II, I upgraded the front brakes(that Roush had already upgraded to PBR brakes) with the Brembo Cobra 13" rotors & calipers. Least I can say I did all I could do to ensure the car stops as well as possible, straight line or otherwise! His has minimal engine upgrades over a standard GT, cold air induction, X pipe & such, maybe 30-40 hp over a standard GT model. But the handling & braking are light years ahead of a regular Stang on the street, even a Cobra. His car goes fast enough & it looks like it would go really fast & that is enough for him (& for his mom & I too!)

The link to the Roush web site for his car is:

Hey Snipe, the 03' and 04' Cobra's are pretty much the same beast. Both supercharged and a lot of fun. (in a straight line!)

Granted, they are still not up to shark standards, but they have moved away form the "too small of a rudder" feel and closer to what might be described as "steering"...

A good friend of mine has an 04 GT that he has done quite a few engine mods too...mostly intake and exhaust...one thing I will give the stangs is they do have a real nice sound to them! The downside is (even the new ones) the interiors suck, they ride like crap (worse if they handle good) don't handle well (live axle) are cramped and just in general feel cheap!

My friends does perform pretty good though...he gets about 290rwhp & it weighs about the same as the 928....it does feel faster on the bottom end...but not as good on the top end?

Bottom line.....its just another mustang....about the only one I would want is a GT350! They do have the advantage of being the only reasonably priced "sports" car out there....what other new car gives you a 300hp V8 for around $25K (hmm a 928 gives you 316+hp for far less $$)

Hey, guys that can afford those newer SVT's won't be drivin them like the punk in a 6cyl model. Guys that have SVT, Roush, Saleen, Steeda, mustangs know what they have just like we do, they'd rather come sit have a few beers or what ever with Shark owners, they like us have no point to prove.(porsche's history is enough street credit for me) -todd (a 25 yr old punk who would love to be driving it like I stole it but has too many tickets)

OK, they were dogs until they got the SC treatment, lol.

Not sure what year that happened...i thought it was 04, but 03 is close enough for gummint work, lol.

The non SC'd cobras just don't impress me or the shark.

...going back to the traffic school suggestion...
Sonething i HATE (specially here in LA) is those women that feel like they are trillionares driving an expedition and talking on the phone at the same time when jumping all over the lanes not passing/letting you pass them (ugh!)...
The other day i saw on of them on my rearview driving really moronic (tailgating other drivers, jumping in front of others wihout signaling..etc) She came behind me, the other guys driving on my right lanes were almost at the same speed SO i decided to %$$ off danica-wish-to-be on SUV..i slowed down (releasing the pedal) to form a straight horizontal line with my fellow drivers (i guess they knew what i was doing)... there she was, changing from lane to lane finding it impossible to pass any of the cars (i was laughing my kidneys out)..
After like 3 miles the pretty horizontal line broke, and she past flying (over 90!) right in the sight of a CHP
No remorse, just pure drivin' pleasure

BTW :
My wife would really like to have a red S4 ...let's see what we can find @ sharktoberfest...(and i'll need another another job)

I tormented an '04 Mach 1 version today. He didn't stand much of a chance because it was pretty much all tight twisty mountain road, a road I am very familiar with

We saw him up ahead a ways, he had passed a camper and a pick-up so I figured he was game. I passed him in a long 45mph sweeper at about 110 then slowed to see if he took the bait. The corners going down the pass vary in speed, a set of posted 30's then 45's then a bunch of 30's. I had my buddy pasted to the door panel most of the way down. The Mustang played but wasn't in the same league. I was always faster through the turns. I could see his car leaning hard and crossing the center line, he was trying alright. The mighty 928, especially with suspension mods, big brakes and lots of tire is incredibly hard to beat
