Default Option Group J26 ??

When looking over the original invoice for my 81' 928 I see "Option Group J26" as an option on there, and says it cost $3,685 for it. I am trying to figure out what all is included in that option group. Any thoughts/ideas? Googled it and came up with nada..

Thanks!

It seems like this might be tougher than I thought. I don't think it has anything to do with the wheels because the wheels were itemized separately at $795 for the PRESSURE-CAST ALLOY WHEELS (phone dials). I don't have a rear spoiler either. The suspension may be true, but still not sure what else lies in the J26 option group. I will continue to do some research on my own, if I find out I will report back.

Competition group had flat disks wheels as standard. If buyer still wanted phone dials it's possible factory wanted extra $ for those. I haven't seen option code for competition group anywhere nor is J26 listed on code lists. So it's possible J26 = competition group but price sounds too high though. Competition group was $1100 option according to period Road & Track article and it included S spoilers & steering wheel, flat disks with Pirelli P7 rubber and sport seats.

This is still a complete mystery to me.. I've searched about every 928 message board I can find, even newsgroups. Still no dice. Any additional help is appreciated. Also, thanks for taking the time to look into this in the above replies.

Hmm
How about a "paint to spec" or tourist delivery option? Those were always pricey! Is there anything about your car that is very unique...something you don't see in other 928's of the same MY...that might give you some ideas?

Yeah, lets' see pictures. Someone here might spot the $3,685 (in '81 prices - figure about $10k today) solid gold steering wheel you've been over looking.

I looked on my CD-Rom and there are no J codes unless they have an X in front of the J. Is it possible that you have an XJ2 and 6 ? Sounds farfetched but thats the only thing I can think of. But even combined they aren't as costly as your option.
Here are the option codes off of my CD-Rom. I hope it will help.

Here's a pic of a window sticker for an '81 with the competition package. Vilhuer nailed the price at $1100.

Just a guess, but what about full leather?

Edit: Nevermind... According to Phil Tong's site, it looks like it was for a stereo option - but unclear as to what specifically.

I wondered the same about option 'J25' on my 81's sticker, and could never find an answer. I suppose a Cardex might tell.

Found this while looking through my pics...
