New Product - Chin Spoiler Protection Plates
Porsche 928 Chin Spoiler Protection Plates
Application: All Porsche 928 with Molded Rubber or Fiberglass Chin Spoilers
The Problem: Damaging your expensive Chin Spoiler by nudging a curb, dropping into a pothole, or just entering a steep up-ramp. Porsche equipped the 928 with a "Protection Plate" to help it ride up and over curbs and sharp ramps without damage to the oil pan and front lower suspension. BUT: later when they added the "S" front chin spoiler, they did not extend the Protection Plates down to protect it.
The Solution: Our bolt-on Protection Plates install in just minutes and will provide the permanent, maintenance free protection that your lower moldings need.
Pays for Itself: The last "S" chin spoiler I bought set me back $400 - not to mention the time it took to remove and replace it. The "S" chin spoiler is not cracked by rubbing on the bottom - it gets broken when it gets folded under the car. These protection plates serve as "guides" to lift the nose up and over.
Easy Installation: Our bolt-on Protection Plates install in just minutes and will provide the permanent, maintenance free protection that your lower moldings need. They bolt on where your current protection plates are now - no drilling or modifications required. Easy-to-follow instructions included.
Quality Made: We cut these plates from 6061 T-6 Alluminum Plate 3/8" thick! Strong as steel, but lighter weight and corrosion resistant. We even include the Grade 8.8 metric fasteners you need.

I forgot the price.
We try not to turn "The Renn" into shameless solicitations - (New Produt Announcements, Yes) so we do not usually include pricing and purchasing info here.
This product is BRAND NEW - I do not even have it on my website yet!
But - you can get it in our ebay store right here:

That is such a clever idea, Carl!!! It eliminates most threats (except curbs) to those spoilers and is so much less expensive than the cost of destroying (and the labor of replacing) one!
Something like this for the S4 and later models would be nice, too - particularly when they are lowered. Before I had mine raised to factory standard, I bottomed out all the time. You can see quite well where I was scraping.

Nice setup, Carl! Another benefit is that this addition will help prevent bending of the forward A-Arm mount point, which is always a possibility with the original plates.

Another very nice product. Any thought about a cut out so the tow hooks would still be functional?
Are you going to be at Frenzy 9? If so bring some stuff & I'll bring my checkbook

Yeah - we could punch a hole there... jus raises the labor and the price a tad.
I was not sure how many folks really use the tie-down hooks.
Cannot make it to Frenzy - sorry - too close to that other event on the other coast... ...Shark-somthing....

They will bolt up to the S4 right now. The bolt pattern is the same. The only question is if they snug up behind the chin spoiler correctly.
Who wants to bring one by for a half-a-day so I could prototype one?
Or... buy one and fit 'em and tell me where they need to be changed (if at all),
Or.... make one out of cardboard template and mail it to me for a pattern.

Am I the only one who doesnt understand how this helps "ride up over curbs". Looks to me like if you hit something on center it will still fold back and if you hit anything near the braces that the brace itself would cut through from the back. Seems the braces would have to be lower than the chin spoiler to lift the front over anything and keep the spoiler from hitting and cracking.

Will these be compatible with a Devek belly pan? It seems to be non-compatible; either the belly pan or these. If you want me to test them on my car with belly pan, I would gladly give feedback. I am always hitting the spoiler on driveways and must ease into them at an angle. And now I scrape the belly pan all the time.

Who is it that asked if we would be offering the Chin Spoiler Protection Plates with a hole in them so the tie-down could still be used?

Ebay says 1/4". Rennlist says 3/8"
I raised them to 3/8" plate and am happier with the product - but did not update eBay yet.
Thanks for catching that - I'll go change eBay. They are 3/8" 6061 Aluminum Plate.
I also lowered the price a tad from where they were are first - found a better aluminum supplier.
