These are the latest pictures of the Interior mods to my 928... the unfinished ares of the doors will be done this week in aluminum, easily removable for servicing the electric doors by Hex bolts. The door handle area will be reshaped in Napa Wood trim but using custom work instead of the Jager items currently on it... All the other surfaces are done in suede with thin narrow visors that emulate the new Aston Martin V8. Will update pictures next week in a seperate post.

The ones I did not understand are:

- Intermittent wiper relay upgrade - what does it do different?
- What are the red and green lights on that AC switch module?
- What is shown inside your fender, behind the flip-up light? Is that a HID kit?

1) Direct swap of Porsche relay and VW - no other changes. Direct intermittent rate control from the column stalk (the little wheel under the pod gets made redundant). You flip to intermittent and you get a standard 6 second repeat (an improvement in itself - predictable). If you want faster or slower you switch back to off and then back to intermittent at the delay you want - it instantly sets the new wiper delay rate & repeats (at the exact gap you needed). This is the way it should always have been IMO. The range is continuous to 30-35 second gap - perfect.

2) The red and green things are actually flush mounted push switches with illumination - these are for my integrated garage door opener. Red one selects door 1 or 2 (it locks at in or out position) the Green one opens or closes the door on successive presses. Its actualy set so when I press the button I get a 3-4 second long single transmission without having to hold the button down. Still in the process of the final installation for this. Its basically just a battery garage door remote encapsulated and wired to be switched remotely- I have installed the transmitter behind the front grille.

3) Inside the right front fender is my permanent install of a battery trickle charger - permanent connect to the engine battery post to charge the car (via fuse) and plugs into 110v via a socket in the front grille area...

As you can see very few of the things I have done are visible or very noticeable, like to keep mostly stock looking. Agonized over the garage door opener switches - decided to do it on a spare AC panel and keep the stock GTS one too. This mod actually also relocates the dash reset switch to the new "!" button to make room for the relocated rear wiper switch. These two switches also illuminate when the trickle charger is active - red to indicate its on and green when its charged.

Incidentally someone else asked - the amp is covered in speaker mesh fabric that allows good airflow - was instaled by the PO ( custom professionally I think) It has worked perfectly - in quite adverse conditions... never gets hot.

If Phoenix doesn't get to it after 2 years it is a solid upgrade. Curious to know who did the install though, really cool.

Here are the results of playing with 35% window tint on the tail light and front side marker lenses of the Hooked-On-Cars mobile.

It's probably not going to last very long, though.

And I still have to remove those black rubber bumpers... it turned out a little more tricky than I expected.

Here is the latest part of my own project.



I am currently in the process of sound insulating the interior and changing the carpet. The back quarter panels will be covered in suede and the new rear console and back seats will go back in.

Nicole, I used Candy Apple Red paint in an aerosol can from Hobby Lobby. Works much better than the tint and because it's enamel I just wax it with the rest of the car. It's on a year now and is still perfect.

Holy thread revival! There are some nice rides here.

Alan - what/where did you get your neoprene/fiberglass intake tubes? Those are the closest to GTS tubes I've seen; only those are probably 100% better.
