Yeah, i can't tell what kind of motor it is, i just see a big *** injection setup.
Oh....btw, in that pic you can see the rear tires clearly twisting under the torque load. I was talking about that in a few of the other threads, this picture shows what i was talking about nicely.

wrinkle wall?
Is it possible to get the front-end off the ground on an independent rear-end suspension setup? Camaros do it all the time, but they've got solid rear-ends...

Sterling is correct it is a solid live rear axle and automatic trans up front with big block Chevy 500 plus inches as I recall. It is a bit like strapping a JATO rocket to the roof ! Is it quick ? absolutely.

I used to help bracket race a high 10 second car. The walls will wrinkle like that every time if you don't loose traction. We used to screw the tires bead to the lip of the rim to keep the rims from spinning inside the tires upon launche. We used to trip the 60' lights with the rear tires if we hooked up good.
Personally I wouldn't really consider that car to be a Porsche. Its probably got a custome built tubular ( maybe Chromolly) chassis. We already know that the rear isn't original, the engine, the tranny. The front end is probably from a pinto. Its just a 928 bodied drag car now.

He used to post here, but got lots of flak about the conversion, and doesn't post much anymore.
He was even offering T-shirts.
Sad, since he seemed to be sincerely into the 928.
I believe he did still have the 928 front suspension.

He wouldnt be using that body if he didnt like the 928. Though not the route I have chosen to go... I commend the desire, effort, and follow through of someone who wanted see a 928 kick some serious *** on the strip.
I'd wear the t-shirt, too.
Abiding,

I wonder if that is the same guy. Danny Humphries was the guy who posted here a couple of times. Maybe he sold the car, as the car is attributed to someone else on the link. The old Link I had for Humphries is gone but I managed to scare up some pics of the car mentioned above:
