Default CIS K- Jetronic on racecar problems

On a 79 with the mech fuel injection what would be the cause of this sympton?
Some background is in order first,
-The engine has been re and re'd for cleaning and checking. It is in a racecar so anything not needed has been removed .I left all the stuff for the fuel injection intact and have replaced all the vaccum lines and reconnected according to what info I could find in the factory service manual
- After getting the mixture and idle to a satisfactory setting , that is no hesitation from idle and starting ok. When i accelerate the engine and then close the throttle completely the engine will stall and be hard to start as if it is flooding. As i lean out the mixture the stalling is less severe but still there.
Did I get some vaccum lines wrong or is it a fuel pressure problem? Thanks for any input.
Darrin.

Have you checked item 21, the Vacuum Limiter?

Sticky arm or plunger on the fuel distributor?

A sticky vacuum limiter lets air bypass the throttle and will make it rev high.

I'll go over my lne connections again tomorrow, might have to get out the mityvac tool and check some stuff. It would help if I could find the website again that explains CIS operation.

I think that Rich's point is that that vac limiter's purpose is to prevent the stalling and flooding.

Darrin, did you remove this device?

There is some info here. Note that the air plate on the 928 opens downward, the diagrams on that page show air plates that open upward. The only difference is the linkage to the plunger in the distributor, which in any case moves upward as airflow increases.

Dave, i didn't remove it but you can bet it will be the first thing i start checking out . Could be a wrong pick-up point i used for the vaccum.. there's definately enough of them!
