Default Engine mounts from 928 Motorsports

Hi to all, I recently purchased and fitted some 928 Motorsports engine mounts. Here's what I found, they give a good height when installed, when modified slightly you will never know that they are not genuine mounts.

The differences are that the two locating lugs or notches are different, on these to that of the genuine. So what I did was drill a 5 mm hole on the black metal piece that attaches to the engine block and this then locates the mount basically as well as the Porsche one. On the bottom I hacksawed my original lugs off and then drilled them slightly off centre and then knocked them on to the smaller lugs that come with the replacement.

You need to becareful when doing this that you don't get things out of alignment, I did line it up properly and things were fine. Now if you were to look from underneath you would never know that the mounts aren't genuine. I also have to do my other car soon. I would happily use these again, what is the feedback from the guys who use the Ford mounts? I would be interested.

Cheers Greg

Greg, all I had to do to fit the ford mounts was change my hex nuts from metric to standard.

Hi Shane, so are you saying that, the Ford mounts have the same sized lug on the bottom? i.e. the lug that locates the bottom of the mount and slightly sticks through the bottom of the crossmember.

Cheers Greg

I'm not an expert on motor mounts but the pin on the mount is to keep it from rotating. The size of the pin is not critical.

Not quite correct, the pins, i.e. both top and bottom locating lugs or whatever you like to call them are not so much to stop the mount rotating but to stop the plate that would hold the engine if the mount totally failed. If you have a close look you will see that plate only goes in a specific location.

Yep
well that is pretty conveniant!

Cheers Greg
