Just goes to show you what can happen when you're minding your own business, and tooling through rural areas at 120 m.p.h. in a rental Porsche (look at the rear window sticker in the 3rd car picture).

Years ago NASA invented a machine for simulating bird strikes. It was basically a cannon that shot the chicken an aircraft so that the impact could be assessed. The French found out about this and purchased one from NASA for testing their high speed rail system. When they got the machine they set it up and shot a chicken at the train. It went through the special protective glass, snapped the engineer's chair, and through the bulkhead into the passenger compartment and did a huge amount of damage there. They took lots of pictures and emailed them to NASA asking for advice. The reply email from NASA was three words " Defrost the chicken."

Myth Busters did that expiriment. Totaly obliterated the planes wind screen. They shot both frozen and de-frosted chickens from the cannon. I think someone should shoot a boxter from a cannon. Now that would be cool.

Damn, I am hungry.... I am off to KFC! I know that airlines and the military test there jet engines by putting in chickens (if I remember correctly) to see how the engine will hold up.

I have been advised that someone I know can verify that a 928 windshield will withstand an impact like that (well, slightly smaller bird) at 120 mph. Scares the *#$%* out of the driver I've been told, because the integrity of the windshield can't be verified immediately.

Looks like a **** ( ringneck) pheasant to me ... youse guys don't know your chickens!
On the serious side, I've seen Ruffed Grouse and Pheasants ( chickens too!) absolutely take out windshields and rads at very conservative speeds - at 220Kmph, absolutely lethal!! Lucky guy ..... to be here considering how to clean up 'pheasant under glass' .
