The market is going to tank, here's why...see, I'm gonna win the free one, then immediately sell it (as Jim B. mentioned) and thus set the used market price. I'm looking for a quick sell, so the first $75,000 gets it. (Thus proving the point that a new car loses at least 25% of it's value as soon as it leaves the showroom)

Hey, here's an idea....send me a $1,000 non-refundable deposit (don't wanna screw a fellow 928 owner after all...911 owners must send a $10,000 deposit), and you will be the first one to get the opportunity to buy it from me at $75,000 if I am the winner.

Scott,
another option would be to purchase the car and let the dealer "display" it for a small fee and resell it for you at premium.... hmmmm should at least break even if not more given the limited production
I read a review on it the other day, sounds pretty sweet

The greater fool theory states that it does not matter what you pay you simply find a greater fool to buy it from you for more. As with most markets at the point in time that everyone is sure that it will always go higher be it Dot.coms, oil , tulip bulbs or California real estate generally you have run out of greater fools. I have to wonder how many other people are just like Scott M. and are not committed to owning or keeping the car ,just if they can flip it... The few hundred GTS new car buyers paid a great deal of money for a very rare Porsche which they bought because they really wanted it.

These cars don't represent a real value in a car....as the GT-3 996 street cars did. The GT-3's had the engines, transmissions, and suspensions essentially straight from the cup cars, not the "Subaru" parts that the street cars have. I think the club sport cars are going to have mostly street stuff and are closer to the "RS America" type of car. Sell your position and make a buck (if your dealer will allow this, many have stopped allowing this to happen to shut off the speculators.....you might inquire), if you really don't desire to own the car.

I'll call the PCNA rep monday to get the specifics of the contract...though, they themselves cannot sell a Porsche in the US, they must us a registered dealer.
I get the feeling that if I myself decline they will pick the next person that registered for it. So no fly-by-night Ebay auction for the contract.
Like JB says, all I would need is a greater fool than myself, and BAM! Then again, I autocross with the dealer, and he is absolutely drooling over the prospect of me taking it... cha-cing!

There are few opportunities like this in any one lifetime. Kiss something else goodbye and grab this opportunity. Most folks never get to win even one lottery. Don't throw your chance away.

My two sense...

Find a partner (or partners) and work out a fractional ownership deal on the thing.

Scott--

If you decide not to buy the car, let me know before yopu abandon the option, please. I could probably get enough for my S4 to make a hefty down payment on the tax...

Seriously, let me know. My banker likes me a lot already. I could make her day!

I would think it would be possible for you to sell the contract for at least a few thousand dollars. (without even buying the car)

If you have the money, buy it and throw it in storage for 25 years. It could be your retirement fund!!

If you can? Try to sell the option to some other PCA member....or the option of letting the deal sell it on consignment is a good option too.... But $100K is alot of money...you could have two GTS...GT & maybe an 86.5 for that!!!

I personally doubt any 997 will be an investment in its true sense, even with the CS ... be it short or long term - but time will tell.
