Yep,
This thread and his statement yesterday about the 928 points out quite a bit about their knowledge. Shouldn't be making comparisons if you don't know wtf you're talking about.

Our 1993 GTS was built in April of 1992, so I guess they introduced the 1993 model year early and skipped 1992 model year...one of those early introduction things...

He conveniently forgot that which he spoke of. I informed him the S4 was no longer produced after '91.

By 1995 the S4 was over 3500 lbs with 316hp from its 5 litres. I think 'BIG' is an appropriate description of it. Lazy,

"Regardless of fat, lazy, or whatever... one thing is indisputable: 928s did not sell well at all after 1987 or thereabouts. Why? is one of those questions from which Jihads are born."
The old body style is much cooler, IMO, that's why.

As far as I know the last 928 made was in 95.
This was the last of two identical 928 's made and was in the showroom down here at Champion Porsche for quite a while. Unfortunatly i never made it by to check it out.
Lime green with a purple leather interior.
Yikes !

The 93 GTS was built for two model years starting as an early 93 while the rest of the industry was still building 92 models. So technically there was no 1992 928 GTS built for the US. There were 78 1995 GTSs built.
Here's some info: http://www.928registry.org/1993-1995...model-info.htm
I have all the GTSs brought to North America documented.
1993 GTS
1994 GTS
1995 GTS
If I had the means 10 years ago, the car would be MINE!
I don't think there were two Pearlglanz Green GTSs. This was the second to the last GTS built but I don't think the last one (went to the factory museum) is the same.

John,
You might also want to tell your colleague Phil to stop calling the 911 big and large. Probably not good for circulation for 'Total 911'.
Porsche 928
Height = 50.5 in
Length = 175.1 in pre S4 (178 in S4/GT)
Width = 72.3 in
Porsche 997 Carrera
Height = 51.2 in
Length = 175.6 in
Width = 71.2 in

Seems even people one would expect to know all about different Porsche models know very little about 928. '95 S4 is just one example of it. Certain US magazine publishes almost to the word same market report with faulty/incoimplete information year after year. One UK mag has faulty information in data section for years also. It's not too too much to ask that these basics would be right IMHO.
More complex issues like existense of '92 GTS is not always clear in here either. Porsche didn't do '92 N VIN GTS for US market. There was about 6 month gap when they didn't do new cars for US. Normal production year cutoff is in July. This means large portion of model year production is done at later part of previous calenday year. Day when car is ultimately registered for first time has nothing to do with what model year it really is. All spare parts etc. are determed with VIN and not registration date.
Engine hp and other specs is another murky issue. USA uses SAE net and Europe uses German DIN or equal numbers. This creates confusion when US GTS has 345 hp and European has 350 hp. In reality they both have 345 or 350 depending on which hp standard is used. Same goes with S4 316/320 and GT 326/330. So please do not use US numbers in Total 911 if all other models are quoted in DIN if you ever again even mention 928. I presume UK magazine uses European numbers. If yes, these should be correct ones:

Third unclear thing is how many 928's were made in each calendar and model year. This is much harder question to get accurate answer than engine specs.

I'd say between model years '78 and '89 production was within normal variance and '90 forward it started to drop dramatically.
