Default What was the last model year for the 928?

I recently made a post about a 1995 928 and was briskly informed that no such car exists. Can someone please clarify this for me, as the two or three internet searches I have done suggest that there was a 1995 928 GTS, with 5.4 litres producing around 345 HP.

Thanks in advance

Do you want the last year they made 928's or the year they became "fat and lazy"?

Just kidding - had to say it.

Here is the last one produced, not sure what year it is:

EDIT:
Guess it's a 95:

By 1995 the S4 was over 3500 lbs with 316hp from its 5 litres. I think 'BIG' is an appropriate description of it. Lazy,

The above post was what you were 'briskly informed' about.
'95 was the last year of the GTS w/ 345hp, 91 was the last year of the S4 w/ 316hp. However they made a GT from '89 through '91 that was a different animal from the S4. I'll let you do your own research on it.

Maybe you should just leave mention of the 928 out of your rag entirely since it's apparent you know very little about it.

I think I recall a post by you regarding a 95 s4.
Production of the s4 ran from 87 to 91 afaik.
The gt was available from 89 through 91.
No US 928 were produced in 92.
The 928 GTS was produced from 93 to 95.

GTS's were produced starting in 1992. However, as stated, PCNA did not bring any '92s to NA.

I think it's a bit too late to be researching the 928 for a comparison in your last issue

Yet according to production data:
https://www.928gt.com/t-928evo.aspx
there were 183 928s sold in the US in '92. Does this mean they were all '91s (or earlier models) that were just sitting in the showrooms? Also there were 5 sold in '96 - I guess these were '95s?

Yup. That was why AFAIK there were no '92 GTS imported to NA. And the 1996 sales were '95 models languishing on showroom floors.

My '91 was sold new in February of 1992. It had - apparently - sat on a lot in Amarillo Texas (my home town) until a gentleman in CT wanted an Amazongreen 5-speed, at which point it was trucked across the country for him.

Regardless of fat, lazy, or whatever... one thing is indisputable: 928s did not sell well at all after 1987 or thereabouts. Why? is one of those questions from which Jihads are born.

EDIT: BTW, the origin of that chart is much-debated. But, IIRC it is well understood that the basis is sales data not factory-originated production data.

To be pedantic - since our facts will no doubt be heavily scrutinized - the Perlglanz GTS was the VERY last 928 delivered to a customer/dealer. The very last 928 produced is in the museum. (All this according to the links provided...)
