Robinson's was originally mounted at the front of the transaxle (where the torque converter bump in the tunnel made some space on the 5 speed car). Air intake filter was behind the differential, mass air flow sensor tucked in by the transmission as well.

JT used to have a web site, but life issues with his business partner etc got in the way and he now just puts together the kits for folks to install. He has a full install pdf etc. that I'm sure he can send you. He has the licensing rights to the STS style rear turbo setup for the 928 (for what it's worth) and his kit is pretty simple to install and run.

We (ATB and myself) share shop space with JT (John Thomas) and there are a bunch of pipes and such sitting around there..so I'm sure he can put together any amount of bits and pieces from just piping to the whole thing. PM me and I'll send you JT's contact info...

BTW..this setup uses a turbo back where the rear muffler sits.. runs the intake pipe forward on the drivers side of the car..up near the steering shaft...into a custom carbon fiber tube that direct air into the MAF... blowoff valve is on the turbo at the back. Exhaust was a custom y pipe into highflow cat..3" custom pipe back (vband clamps). If you search you'll find a bunch of pics of my GT..or JT's red 89S4. He now uses custom mapped chips (using a sharktuner) to handle the fueling/ign. You can use the stock tial blow off spring to control boost..or use a greddy elec. boost controller. I took us the better part of a day to get it on... and less to take off and go back to stock. Also, there is a unique oil scavenge pump that takes oil from the turbo and routes it to the oil pan. Oil is fed to the turbo from a line off of an adapter plate that screws on at the oil filter location..

Yes, I ordered a rear turbo kit from John Thomas (P9-Motorsports) about three weeks ago. I guess I am the first actual customer. I wasn't going to say anything until the kit actually ships which should be this Friday give or take a couple of days. I'm glad its out, cause it was about to explode outa me like an alien. Besides, this would make one helluva tech session!!

I started out by contacting Tom and asking if he had any of the key parts laying around their shop so that I could begin my own rear turbo project. But after talking with John and learning that he could put me together an entire kit, I decided to just go ahead and take the plunge. Everybody that knows me, knows that I have been talking about going boosted for years.

I hope to have it installed and tuned up enough in time for Third Coast.

I found the pdf of a powerpoint style presentation that JT put together for the Sharks in the Hood event way way back.. It's kind of outdated, but it does show the basics of the rear turbo layout etc...

If anyone want's it..send me a pm... (it's about 1.8mb in size)..

Congrats Mike, looking forward to the progress. As you know by now (because secretes in this crowd suck) I'm going to be installing one from Robinson in a few weeks.

When you get to it, call me and I will assist, or give you shop space to do it in.

I'm also going to need your expertise in tuning it, so this could be a win/win for both of us.

I wish it was mine, but I'll be putting a Murph kit on, unless something changes on this turbo stuff.

Going on an '86.5 I've been working on for a few months, getting it ready.

Does anyone know how I can get in touch with John at P9 motorsports? The number I had doesn't work. I tried to get in touch before but failed.

Any help would be awesome!

johnthomas49@msn.com

I don't think John will mind if I post his e-mail address. I do have his number too, but Tom gave it to me and I'm not sure if this is his personal number or what. I'll let Tom or John handle that one.

The nice 5-speed, originally from the NW? That'll be sweet.
