Don't read this if you have a squeemish stomach!!
I was driving home last night, almost home, following a couple of slower cars, when a dead possum appeared right in front of me, dead center in the lane, and already very dead.
No way to go left or right (ditch, etc), so I went over him. Unfortunately, it was about 5 inches of roadkill and I had about 3.5 to 4.0 inches of ground clearance.
I heard and felt a crunch, thud sound and then looked at the gauges for any bad indications. Nothing. Got home, unloaded the car, then went back the garage for assessment.
Looks like the paint is scrapped from the aluminum undertray I bought last year from 928 Int'l. You know the NACA scoop at the rear?? It was somewhat filled with varmint parts. I got a long stick out and cleaned out what I could onto the drip pan. (holding my nose) and took the garage floor drip pan outside to clean it off.
I think tonight, I will need to put the front up on ramps and hose out the rest of it. Better do that before I have dinner.
No other damage to report. As I recall the fron spoiler itself is a bit lower than the undertray, so that was probably the thud I heard.

You're just very lucky there weren't a couple of Texas Aggies on vacation and having dinner . That would've caused a lot more damage to the undertray.

You're lucky! I had a similar encounter with a slightly larger dead animal (deer), and it took out my front spoiler and brand-new AC compressor.
I'm still cleaning out fur...

Ewwww! Graphic! Are the people OK? If it had been a pheasant it would have been under glass. ;-)
Anybody remember that a zopilote took out a navigator in a 300SLR in the Carrera Panamericana in the 50's? :-(
You'd think that with -pilote in the name, it would have killed the driver instead. ;-)
