Here is some interesting info on possums. They are not related to rats, but rather to kangaroos. That might explain their look. I would not consider them ugly, though.

Maybe not ugly.... but they are one of the most vermin-infested creatures around here. "Nature's little sanitizers" indeed.... these things carry lice, mites, fleas, and any number of other parasites and diseases. Cuddle from a distance!

I cleaned under the car the other evening. What I thought was paint scrapped off was just mud. Everything cleaned up with the pressure washer. The louvers face backwards to extract heat out from the engine compartment, so the only scoop facing the oncoming vermin are the two NACA ducts.

Yeah, the quail was quite a bird strike! Yikes.
