Andrew, It is the original blue that he had when you first made the mod. He had no other colors back then....

Thanks Alan.

Anyone ever drum up an alternative supplier? How about a make and or model name or number? All I have so far is white 12 volt Electro Luminescent Strip 1.5” X 5”. Any other bits of information to search on would be appreciated.

Perhaps I could find another source. If anyone has any extra they want to unload, please send me a PM. I’m thinking I want white ones like Bill’s, but I would also consider the red one’s like Andrews. Hey Brett, what color are yours?

I’m not in a hurry because I just started my interior make over which I expect will take a few months to complete. 90% of my interior is now exterior, but what the heck... we are getting our first real snow today, so the timing couldn’t have been better.

You wont find ANY 12v DC electro-luminescent strip.... its all high voltage AC ... you will need to find a 12-15v inverter that converts ~12v to several hundrend volts AC to operate the sheet.

Just look for "EL sheet". You may also find some at distributors like Digi-Key.

Here is a place for larger sized sheets:

I used the split electrode style. Works great.

Anybody come up with a fix for the pink color of the white panels in daylight? They look great (white) at night but not in daylight.

Bill - err well... I put yellow film over mine which were pink when off (and also in bright daylight like yours).

I wanted yellow - but its not everyones taste. It does look exactly the same yellow regardless of on/off daylight or night. You may have similar luck with some kind of frosted white? Even laminated white paper maybe?

I tried just common white printer paper and it changes the transmitted white to funky tan. Need to get some white translucent filter.

Just place some coloured gel material over it - the stuff they use for set lighting. Available at most any photography or craft store.

If you have them wired up to the door switch they should glow the same regardless. Although not quite as bright. I have my E L gauges wired to the ignition so they are always on when the car is on.

Oh, they are glowing in the daytime. It's just that the daylight that is reflected off the surface, which is pink, overwhelms the emitted light and you see pink until you shade the area closely with your hand and find that it is lit after all, but just not bright enough to overcome the reflected light. They are perfect at night.

The little transformer for the driver's side sill light has burned out for the second time.

That Bob guy that was selling them on eBay seems to be gone.

Any suggestions on where to get replacement transformer(s)?

Mine both stopped working quite a while ago. I haven't bothered to replace them. *shrug*
