Question Intake Tubes

What is the difference between the GT & GTS intake tubes, also do the gts tubes interchange with the s4/gt?

I searched for gts intake tubes pics but didn't find any, any pics out there?

The GT tubes in the US were the same as the S4 plastic tubes. The foam insulated GTS tubes can be used on the GT/S4. Some ROW GT's has the insulated tubes.
The only reason for the insulated GTS tubes was to reduce intake noise, not to keep the air cooler.

Is it actually documented somewhere that pre-GTS cars left factory with GTS tubes before GTS was released?

Yes, I have read it in some Porsche documentation (don't remember which one). Think it was in the Switzerland market were noise levels were stricter than other markets.

Found it:

Air Intake Hose
Insulated air intake hoses of Swiss version are installed standard on the engine of 928 GT cars to
reduce intake noise .

That's what is printed, but we all know that the US still received the plastic ones until the GTS

PET seems to list "GTS" tubes for Swiss model starting from '87 S4. Haven't seen those on normal ROW cars before GTS.

Yes, I have them on my latest acquisition a Swiss 928S4 Auto 1988MY. Also have lots of insulation flakes and nutshells on top of the air filter :-))

Something has been squatting there!

My '91 Euro GT which was a late '91 (manufactured in May of '91) was delivered in Germany with the insulated GTS style tubes.

The foam covered tubes are about $150 EACH ! and over time the foam flakes off.

Yes Dave now if they would keep the seams straight and punch the cam cover hole so the seams did not show on the top or sides of the tubes when installed that would be a bonus for $300. a set

Now don't you think you are asking a bit much? I can see why they shouldn't put the holes on the seams but they are only being safe putting that ugly seam on top with it's high tech duct tape!
