I'm not sure where I heard that. The idea was that with the SC mounted up front like that was putting a huge amount of additional heat into the TB. This additional heat would cause "fatigue" of the TB and could potentially cause premature failure if the service interval wasn't adjusted accordingly. I suppose by that same line of thinking you could also expect to see some stretching of the TB. Was I misinformed? It makes sense and seems possible.

Fabio,
I can't imagine that being true since the s/c'er inlet goes directly into the MAF and intake plenum and unlike the conventional (n/a) cars there is no connection to the t/b case - so no increase in any normal temperature.

Fabio,
The radiator would produce a lot more heat that a SC? The TB cover is constantly being heated by the air leaving the radiator. If you mount the SC behind the rad. It would, at the minimum, decrease the amount of hot air hitting the front of the TB and engine block.
I would really be interested to know who told you this BS.

Until we have someone take base line temp readings in the TB housing and compare those to temp readings in the same place AFTER the SC install, the postulance will only be theory. Carl and Tim have had as much experience with these things on 928s as anyone......However, commenting on your own product here is a good deed the rarely goes unpunished....
I intend to put my car on the lift for some work. I will check my timing belt and report any anomolies....

Had my car not been bbqed then I would have put it on an accelerated timing belt water pump PM. I noticed that since I tended to drive it harder the tension light started coming on at regular intervals, and I would have to go in and retension. Not a big deal but I'm quite sure it was due in some part to having a supercharger, but not directly related to heat and such, just more use at higher revs.

I retensioned mine before the Iron Lung install, just to be sure I was at base line....I have not had one tensioner warning occur.....Had the ole girl out this weekend with a 16 year old nephew riding shotgun........
"Uncle Gretch, I know you are prolly never gonna sell this thing, but if you ever"..............."Michael, save yer breath, me and my supershark are going to the promised land together......Besides which boy, this is waaaaaaaaaay too much car for you.....Now let's go stomp a vette......"

Great job Doug! It was very nice working with you over the phone during your installation and I am very happy that you're excited about your new ride.
BTW, Sorry for the late response but I didn't realize that you had started this thread until another Rennlister recently told me about it. I knew you were going to post something and I tried to keep a look out but completely missed it.
I'm very pleased with the way this kit turned out and it will be the baseline for all of my future development. I have many things in store to test on my prototype car (I call it the wife's car for political reasons) that look to be very promising based on the information from the installed data logging equipment. I installed this kit before SITM and have had to do ZERO maintenance to the super charger system since the initial installation (over 4k miles so far). This kit uses the stock fuel system and in testing I have been able to push it way above the kit level before I hit the limits of the system. The drivability of this kit is 100% like driving a stock car but with more HP. At the end of September I am moving into a new home with a heated garage and a two post lift that will provide me with plenty of opportunity this winter to work on many more developments.
With respect to the release of the stage one kit, I am shipping the first production kit to Carl Fausett at 928 Motorsports this week for him to get familiar with all the components and review the manual. All the major manufactured components are in stock (limited supply at this point) so the official release should come very soon. The price is yet to be determined and although I wanted to see it under the $5k mark that might not be feasible at this point, but it should be close.
If anyone has any questions about the kit please ask away, I will discuss openly and honestly anything anyone wants to know about it. There were a bunch of fellow Rennlisters at SITM who had seen my “wife’s” car and are welcomed to share their opinions of the installation if they wish (good or bad, I'm open to criticism because I'd rather hear about it). I truly believe this is a solid kit with a great return of HP per $ that people will be very happy with.
Oh, one more thing… GO PACKERS!!!!! Football season is in the air.

Just as an addition to this thread, I just drove up to Vermont and back with the new s/c'd shark and had a blast.
I hit triple digits on the speedo several times on I-91 (thank you Valentine 1) and when I got off in Vermont and took route 9 the car just excelled in every respect. Route 9 is two lane road though the mountains with lots of twisties. The new suspension was great and the car handled flawlessly. The whole trip added about 500 mile to my odometer but was well worth it
(except for the massive thunderstorm I drove through on the way home which slowed down my speed to a crawl).

Fabio,
I have heard of a person who mounted a turbo in the front and it caused the timing belt to wear out faster due to heat, how ever from everything I have read there hasnt been that problem with the super chargers. They just dont put out enough heat to do that it seems.

Remember I lived near the hallowed ground for 4 years. I can smell the brats from here. Remember I will be in Green Bay the weekend of Sept 1. Anybody in WI want to give me a ride in a supershark? 619 7092882

I dropped off the first production Stage 1 kit to Carl Fausett yesterday for him to photograph and document for his website. I also gave him a ride in my test car so he could experience the smooth power delivery.
Attached is a screen shot from the data logging I have done with my stage 1 test car. As you can see I have been able to get the recipe pretty well figured out for this kit. I hope this type of documentation will assure interested parties that this kit has been thoroughly tested and sorted out so you don't have to do it. My test car has over 4000 miles on the installation and the system has been totally maintenance free.
The big advantage to running the centrifugal superchargers is that they bring the boost on gradually so you don't have the "tip in" detonation problems caused by too much boost too soon with the stock ignition curves. It has been my experience, and observation, that anything more than 4-5 psi boost (without doing anything else) below 4k rpm will experience detonation with the stock ignition curve.
BTW, this system will also fit the 85-86 cars.
