Nice to see the monster out there. Still sounds good. Give it some stick and crush the 1:49 at Laguna; it's got time left, trust me ;-)

Hi Chris - Good to see you on here. The current splitter isn't looking too pretty but it has lived a good long life. Laguna is my Everest. If I can get it to 1:44, I'll have made the summit.

yes, you can do it. quit the double clutching for one lap, do what im telling you about the trail brake and slightly narrow lines through turn 2, 4, 5 and of course 6. my old 285hp 5 liter part euro did a 1:46 on 280 treadwear toyo street tires, and 1:42.6 on hoosiers. that same car was an easy 1:44 with the extra stock weight. actually, i just looked up some old times. 1:45.1 with my part euro 2 valve 4.7 liter and 240hp at the rears and pretty close to stock weight, all the interior stereo, 60lb leather stock seats, etc, everything but AC and smog pump.
It can be done, and im sure from what ive seen on your videos you can do it.

By the way, Laguna lap records should drop. They completely re-did all the curbing for the MotoGP race. They're much much flatter than the old alligator's teeth so everyone's going to be riding them.

really, did you see it yet?

im thinking it will only help, turn 3, 5 and the corkscrew. no other times do you really need to hit the alligator teeth. there is a better line for the other turns in the "groove" of the turn. (like turn 2,3 4,9,10,11.) But, those 3 turns that it helps from bending rims and shorting distance or improving exit angles, could help a .5 second or so overall i imagine.
we certainly will see with our race and my times August 7th at laguna. my times there on the same tires dont drift more than around .5 second for best lap times in the race. 1:40.2 - 1:40.8 on good tires, 1:42.5 to 1:43 on bad tires.
