Cobalt,
Does it sit lower than a Miata? Miatas too feel just like a go-cart. The only problem with them is the lack of leg room. They were design to fit a midget!

Actually I do not have too much tied up in this one. I pretty much stole from PO, All in all I estimare total cost at around 5500. Like some other people said before, nothing like throwing a sorted 914 into a twistie , definitely will bring a huge smile to your mug!!!!!!!! AL

Don't forget about one other trait the 914 offers: fantastic trunk space.
My 914/6 would swallow my camping equipment, including tent, foam pad, several tarps, e-z up canopy, tools and stakes, cooking equipment and propane tanks, 2 gal water jug, blanket, sleeping bag, clothes, hat, folding chairs, shovel, food, back pack and toiletries IN THE REAR TRUNK. In the front trunk, I put tool box, suitcase, passenger stuff, watermelon (hey, it gets hot at the track!), and ammunition if I was packing a gun, ('cause the firearm had to be in plain sight in the passenger compartment). And I still had room for more up front. And the top would fit in the rear trunk fully loaded. And it still hauled *** !!! What a kick. Light, nimble, responsive, simple and FUN, FUN, FUN.
Great brakes. But if you like listening to tunes, forget it; the 6 intake throats are at your ear = music for your soul. Keep at around 3500 and it sings to you. What radio??

Al: You really seem to love the "underdogs" of the Porsches... the neglected step children that most people underestimate.
928 and 914 ownerd really do have quite a bit in common. And they face some of the same challenges, like being taken seriously by the 911 crowd, or finding information, accessories, and sometimes even parts.
I think I could sell as much 914 as 928 in my sotre, if I could find more interesting items relating to the 914. Most vendors focus on the mainstream stuff like 911 and possibly 944. The 928 and 914 are real niches.
Ooops - now I have revealed one of my business secrets!

YES Nicole I have a soft spot for the underdogs ! The color on the 914 is the original color and so far no problems with parts aquisitions etc. I once had a 1969 914 and I believe it was one of the first few that came to america but alas it fell prey to the rust monster back in pennsylvania. AL

I think I have had something like 12 914s. At one point I had 4 914s and one 928. I really loved them, but somehow it seems that the day of the 914 is past for me, and I have to try to compromise between the 928 and 914 with my 928 cab. Still, 'porsche 914' is probably my 2nd most common ebay search.
