Justin who would have thunk it that saying that you drove a ws6 ta would cause such an out cry of personal bashing. I have very very close friend who rebuild/restore TA's, AMC Reble Machines ( bet most of you dont even know what one looks like), Olds 455 GS,70.5 LT1 Z28's, GTO Judges and so on and they all have given my car praise and how they have always have admired these cars. So not giving these cars respect is not being a true car guy but very narrow minded. My passion has always been with the 928 but not giving these other cars there respect is crazy.

Just the .02

Based on a lot of these posts...It seems most 928 owners would get more upset when someone disses their 928 than when someone might call their sister a hoe..*L*..geesh children....chill out man....I have a 67 Pontiac that will smoke my 928, in a straight line to 115 mph, for a minimum investment of $5,000. Different cars are meant to do different things and stating that fact shouldn't send a Porsche owner to purgatory until they apologize for liking something other than a Porsche....nuff said about that sh$t...

A good possibilty you're in 'limp home mode', your MAF is bad or you have a couple of plugged injectors.

American Muscle Car had the AMC products on last night. That Rebel has a 390 cu in 4 bbl with 350 hp. Thing is, the same motor was also available in the 600 lb lighter Rambler. The called it an SC/Rambler (known as Scrambler). One of the rarest American Muscle Cars available to the collector today with only an estimated 200 left. Plus, no OEM's or others still make a full set of parts available so they are tough to restore or maintain.

No, I am not an AMC nut. I am parotting what I saw on TV last night.

When I was 16, I had a Dodge Challenger. I don't remember seeing or hearing of one of these Rebel Machines or Scramblers in all of the activity with the Mustangs, Camaro's, TA's, Darts, Dusters etc.

It's good to respect all cars for what they are and I agree that a true car lover should respect all types of cars. Although my 02' Z28 Camaro handled like a rocket powered ambulance, it was still cool in it's own ways. Muscle cars are in a class by themselves for sure!!

A STOCK 89 928...IS WHAT? 14.4 QUARTER MILE....I HAVE RUN A SECOND BETTER THAN THAT WITH MY FIRECHICKEN...SO..I APPRECIATE THE HUMOR JIM_H...BUT IT IS TRUE...UP TO 115MPH WITH 3:73 GEARS...MY PORSCHE DOES NOT HAVE A PRAYER...AFTER 115MPH, WHEN THE CHICKEN IS SCREAMING AT 6,000RPM'S, THE PORSCHE WILL PULL AWAY EASILY. VERY CHEAP TO GET 375 CRANK HORSES OUT OF A SMALL BLOCK 350.

OOOOOHHHH....the memories. When I was 16 - I LOVED the Challengers. A buddy had a Hemi Challenger (with the 'pistol grip' shifter!) Hands Down - SCARIEST car I ever drove....made to GO only (and boy - would it go - IIRC - would lift the front wheels off the ground in STOCK form!). NO Stopping power...and - twisties??? - NO WAY! I still love their looks, tho!

Brett
No one will debate it is cheaper to get big power out of a 350! However you are comparing a modified firebird vs a stock 928? With a couple mods....that also fall into the $5000 range you mentioned you could easily make your 928 post 1/4 mile times of at least 13.46...or better with a self installed twin screw kit....intercooled kits can produce 450+whp!!! Plus have a car that keeps pulling right past 115mph all the way up to (probably) a gearing limited 185mph or so!

Maybe your e brake is on. Belt slipped a tooth. I'm sure some others will chime in with suggestions

I've dragged a lot of the last gen GM F bodies.

Definitely quick cars light to light, but i can run door to door with unmodded LS-1s, and i can spank LT-1s pretty good. Forget about WS6s and SS Zs though(no, my 928 is by no means stock).

They beat me everytime. I've never beat either of those two in a drag race.

Hence the 75 shot of nitrous i'm planning on.

er....thats 5K for car, motor, trans, rear....everything...but..anyway...the original point of the thread....I think was...lack of respect for muscle....which..I tried to give props to....JIM_H...small block...timing chain...no belt....(pat on the Back)...I always try to school those who need schooling..unless of course they are better off climbing a tree...and have the need educate themselves in higher branches...*L*

Yes, but in a 928 the trans and rear are already there. The needed suspension and handling are already there.

All you need to make a good 928 into an "anytime, anywhere" WS-6/SS Z28/C-5 killer is a $500 buck 100hp shot of nitrous.

Hehehehe.
