Yes, to really make sure there was no rubbing, I think it would be prudent (on the front). But my idea in looking at these would be that they are pretty large offsets, and the rears might only need some massaging and even a spacer to push them out. But the meat you could get on those !
ive asked before about running 19" rims on the 928 but popular opinion was against it, now i see DR is selling rim sets in this size and has them mounted on his car. who else runs on 19" and how do they ride?
The 997 cars have been reverted back to the older offsets...which is GREAT for us 928 guys. Keep an eye out for lot's O aftermarket wheels to hit your local 7/11 Those wheels that Brendan posted will fit a GTS with no issues...to my knowledge.
pressure cast aluminum...probably less with rubber than a 17" with rubber same overall running diameter. I believe rubber is heavier per specified unit than the same unit in aluminum.
ok i am now running these wheels on my 88 SE without major problems (just mounted them today). i called around to see a mate and he had these with new michelin pilot sports and a little bit of curb rash on two rims so we struck a deal. he kept my 17" 993 replicas and im rolling on 19"s - nice! sorry i cant post any pics as im not at home right now but they look mean!
we kept the standard rear spacer which must be close to 22mm and then massaged the fenders ever so slightly using an old broom handle. fronts rub vers slightly on full lock on one side only where the inner fender lining needs to be pulled back. no major difference to ride quality so far except that maybe the rears 'slap' a bit more over road markers and the steering is more direct.
the rears are 11" wide with 295 rubber but the front 8" with 235 weighs less to my hand than the old 17 x 7.5" with 225 rubber, bonus!
ok here is a pic for those of you who check out this old thread! i really like them although i do admit the ride is harsher, you feel more of the bumps. on the plus side its made a HUGE difference to the grip in cornering from the previous 17" cup knockoffs with brigestone rubber. i definitely rate the MPS2 tyres, especialy in these bigger sizes. i do get slight rubbing on the rear tyres under full suspension movement which i can see is only the 'rim protection' lip on the tyre. also get some rubbing on the R) front under full lock.
