I know we have covered this subject extensively before but I finally got my poor man's lift in from Harbor Freight. I bought it based on the advice from Mark Silver and his experience owning one; so far so good. For only $930 bucks shipped to my door, this thing is SOLID. I can easily do just about anything under the motor. Once, I disconnet the straight pipe from my headers, I could easily yank out the tranny as there is plenty of space and height to bring her down. 110 V with a Hydrolic lift. Here are some pics...

That base looks awfully narrow. Seems to me that it might lack some lateral stability. Was the minimum height too high for the car and is that why there are boards under the wheels?

The min ht. IS too high - thus the boards. I had given him a 'heads-up' on this, so he'd have them on hand and NOT have to run to Lowe's when the excitement of using the just-arrived ramp was there!

Congrats Brad!! I gotta have one of those!! You say Harbor Freight, as in Harbor Freight Tools?? I have one of their retail stores all of one block from my office!! I was just in there a week ago getting some metric ratchet wrenches & spanner wrenches! How do you know exactly how to line it up as far as where the lift supports the car?? Does it support at the jacking points??

ok, just called the local Harbor Freight & they dont carry them, tried Harborfreight.com & they have a 220volt, 6000lb model for $959, cheapest of the five models shown. So Brad or Mark, can you give me a phone # or web link for the 110volt, $930 delivered model?

Congrats man. I feel the love. The one thing I like about the benpak I got is you drive over the pad platform so you do not need the boards to give the car more height when you go over it. But mine does not go as high. If your into wrenching and do a lot of it then a lift is a must have. Hands down. Welcome to the club Brad. I am sure we will hear from you shortly on how the was the best money you've spent in a really long time.

For ongoing storage, I imagine that the lift can be left in place, and the car parked over it all the time? Any issues with a hot exhaust being parked over the unit daily?

Here are two "American Made" lifts!

JMO, but when we buy stuff made in third world countries, we are saying it's ok to employ underage workers and slave wages. I rather pay a little more for a product made in countries that pay and treat people like people.
When ever possible, support the home teams "MADE IN THE USA"!
