Sometimes this is the best part of my car, but it doesnt get out much. White leather, white zipper, almost unmarked - got a bit of water damage while it was stored in a spare room and a water fitting burst. See http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/biggle.../ph//my_photos

Whoever gets drunk and posts in this thread they are giving one away because they just switched to Geico saved 20% and stayed at a holiday Express last night. I call I'll take it before Heinrich does

I'm the guy that removed my rear sun visors for weight savings. I'm the guy who removed my perfect one from my S4 and sold it. I'm out of the oridinary, so i THINK there may be a market, but from the results, I'm not so sure.

Thanks Heinrich...and its even better since I had the seats (intentionally not shown there) fully recovered in new white leather(German too!). The trim shows its been lived in, but considering it spent 10 years in Saudi, its in excellent condition. Dash and pod are still good, stitching intact etc - just VERY glary on a bright day, so I have a home made cover for it.
My luggage cover fits as described by Garth S earlier - bayonet fittings into various holes in rear quarters etc, rolls up nicely. I do like the clip on cover a la tonneau idea though.

I have had them in three 928's. They were all cloth and I immediately removed them, rolled them up and stuck them on a high shelf in my garage never to be used again.
The "I have one, but never use it" option did not appear on the poll, so I didn't vote.
Cheers,

I am interested in a cover if this deal materializes, though. Thanks.

BTDT...but for less than a few bucks in fabric from a good fabric shop, a good mom or inlaw on the sewing machine you can DIY very easily.
Measure...make the template from the old stuff...cut the faded dry rot stuff out and and placed the new fabric in its place.
$350.00!!!....sorry, ill pass on that one.
Vinyl and leather would be nice, but it wont fold and store as nice as the stock cloth idea.

I have two original covers, one in good shape in gray, one in bad shape in black, and one black cloth cover from 928 Intl.
I would like color options other than black. The material doesn't matter too much to me. My preference would be for a more-durable-than-factory stretchy material. But, leather works too.

I don't care about the fabric, leather, genuine vinyl, or whatever. If anyone has the roll-up hardware, and attach thingys I will buy it from you. I can make the material any color I want, out of any material that is handy. Joe - with three of them hidden away, are you hearing this?

Nicole,
My apologies for dredging up this two-year-old thread. As i have written earlier on the board, I live in NYC but my car is in California (haven't driven it yet other than test-driving it-- got a new H20 pump as I left CA) so I have to resort to reading all the old Rennlist threads to get my 928 jollies. Pathetic.
Question: did anything ever come of your luggage cover survey? Did you get enough interest in the covers to produce them?
If so, are you selling black vinyl covers? And if you are, are you also selling the hardware associated with the luggage cover?
If not, do you know who is selling the covers/hardware? I see an aftermarket cover on 928 Intl but it doesn't give me enough information to feel good about spending $279...
All my best,
Scott

The available aftermarket covers are by David Honl and are sturdy and durable. The hardware may not be quite as spiffy as the Porsche original, but it functions just fine. I've had one for about 5 years.

Hi Scott:
No, we did not pursue this further. The response here indicated that there might be a hand full or less to sell, at a price that would not make worth the effort. After all, we WOULD be competing with the Sunbrella type that 928 International and 928 Specialists already offer, and I try to compete with them as little as possible.
