I purchased a fuel pressure gauge today to monitor rail pressure. The gauge is rated to 100psi but I am not sure where to tap into the fuel system. On the 84 the point of attatchment was easy, on the end of the fuel rail but on the 86.5 the rail is different. If anyone has a picture of their hook-up and wouldn't mind sharing I would like to see it. Thanks all..........

See my prior post.

Should fit your car and all LH-Jetronic (1985-1995).

Thanks Borland. I looked at that short hose and wondered if that would be a good place to have the gauge. At that point ,where the small hose is, would it hurt too leave it permanently attatched? I guess if there is no contact with anything it should be OK. Hmmm...I wonder if heat would become an issue if mounted permanently.........thanks

Bill,
I made mine long cause of the angled fittings and I wanted to rest the gage on the smog filter housing. But you shouldn't have a problem mounting a shorter one there permanently.

There is a ball bearing stopper in the cap, use a rag stuffed under to make sure it doesn't fall into the abyss. Of course some fuel will be under pressure too.

On my 86.5 I tapped a threaded hole into the rail cap and used a right angle fitting to get the gauge to be readable while looking at the front of the engine. Don't lose the ball when you remove the cap.

I'd sure stay away from any hose-clamped, barbed-end fitting piece for anything other than a temporary test rig.
The '85-86 passenger-side fuel rail has that plug at the forward end, with the ball bearing behind it. I have not seen anyone identify the plug's thread spec, but most guys are taking that cap and having it drilled and tapped with an appropriate thread for their fule pressure guage. I believe the most common is 1/4 pipe thread.
